Hi all, I’m a wedding photographer and videographer based in NYC and Miami but I’m going to be traveling through France this summer/fall. I’m wondering how all of you found your wedding phtoographers/videographers — did you book someone at your destination? Or are you flying someone to your destination? I feel like it’s really important to meet with my clients before their weddings (whenever possible) so as to get to know them better and be able to accurately capture their unique relationship through photos and video. I’m not trying to make a sales pitch to anyone, just doing some research! Thank you!

Hired someone where we had the wedding. Flying someone in and paying for a hotel was WAY too expensive to add to our budget. We didn’t met our photographer until 2 days before the wedding. Was fine and loved our pictures!

Glasgowbound: Thanks for your feedback! I think I will have to waive my travel fee in order to compete with local photographers. That way the pricing will be similar and my selling point will be the fact that I speak English and can meet them in advance (and even do an engagement sesion) if they live in the New York City area.

I am getting married in another state. I hired someone there. I talked to several photographers on the phone first and looked at hundreds of websites looking for a style I liked locally and at my destination.
