I absolutely love the look of red lipstick on friends, models and blogs but have always been a nude/pink lip color girl. I feel the most comfortable when my lips are neutral and tend to play up my eyes more often. I’m going to a live show soon and would love to wear red lipstick but I’m super shy about it. I feel like everyone will be staring at my red lips and they won’t look good like my technique will be flawed in some way. Mostly I will be uncomfortable but I’m dying to step out of my comfort zone to try a color I’ve wanted to wear since discovering makeup. I’d love to hear if other bees wear red lip stick. How do you feel about red lipstick in general when you see someone wearing it? Are you comfortable doing it? What technique do you use for the color not to spread all over your face? Am I the only that has a love/hate relationship with bold colored lipstick? Pics of your red lip stick moments are welcomed!

I never wear it; for multiple reason, but I love the look!
- I have big lips and I feel like I’m just drawing more attention to them.
- I’m not allowed to wear makeup to work
- I haven’t found a shade that looks good with my super white skin.
Fail. :'( :'(

I wear red lippy all the time but i do have small eyes and very full lips. So i tend to highlight my best feature. i think just get yourself a nice matte colour red. i like various lipstains and then i put i apply lip moisturiser ontop to keep it supple and not dry. I say go for it, sweetie. its lippie not jumping out of a plane!!

I really like red lips, but I rarely see it done well. I’ve always wanted to try, but I’m also much too afraid of putting it on wrong and ending up with giant clown lips. My FI actually keeps gently pushing me to try as well since he also thinks the look is really attractive, but I’ve yet to actually have the guts to give it a go. Maybe someday.

MissCoupon: Girl, red lips work the best with pale skin. Dont be scared haha

I’m not at all.
I have a very young-looking baby face and so I just end up looking like a little girl that’s trying to play dress up.
Also, where I live/work, most women wear very, very minimal makeup. I feel like I wear enough as-is and red lips would just make me look TOO done up.
I’m envious of the women out there who can pull it off, though!

I LOVE red lips! My major concern when I wear it is the color getting on my teeth lol. If you want some inspiration pics I have shameless selfies with red lips haha
I also love when I see other women wearing red lips. It’s so confident and sexy!

I feel the same! Red lipstick looks so good on so many people, but on me I feel like it looks like dress-up or something. I want to pull it off!

I used to scare of it but now I’m loving it I have a very thin lip, so it looks great on me but I have to wear very simple eyes make up and …. carefully draw it. It looks really bad if it’s not draw on my lip neatly.
I found the best makeup go with red lipstip is min. eyeshadow color and black liner and black mascarra or fake lash. and define brow

bluesparkles: I love to rock a red lip. I am fair skinned with yellow undertones and nearly black hair. The key is finding the right red for you, like any red with purple undertones looks terrible on me- I have to find a real fire engine red. When I first started wearing it I was worried about application error or it getting on my teeth. I would recommend covergirl longlast- it stays perfect for like 6 hours and doesn’t come off.

I just recently started experimenting with lipstick. I’m 28 and feel like I’m getting too old for lip gloss. The first color I bought was a bright matte red. The first time I wore it was rough. It bled into the tiny lines around my mouth and it seemed smudgy. I read up on some makeup blogs about how to apply lipstick and learned a few tips.
First, make sure your lips are exfoliated and smooth. You can do this in the shower with a wash cloth. Second apply concealer around the edges of your lips to get a good base. Third, you must use lip liner to help seal the edges of you lips to help prevent the bleeding. Then, don’t apply too many layers of lipstick. Especially with matte colors, you really only need one layer. Red lipstick does take effort because you have to touch up after you eat, but it just takes practice to find what works best for you.

I don’t wear it. I do not have the skin tone for red, and have attempted MANY times. Unless I have some color in me (tanning), it just doesn’t work and makes me look more pale than I am – especially this time of the year.
I wish I could find a flattering red, but will stick to my nudes/pinks for now!
