I know to some it might sound very extreme doing all that but for my wedding I'm getting extensions and fake eyelashes done. My sister doesnt like that idea too much but I think its my day and I should look as good as I want to.
How do you girls feel about hair extensions and fake eyelashes??
Well my hair is pretty long, so I don't need extensions. I will be getting fake eyelashes put on though! I like the full look, and as long as they aren't really fake looking (like the Halloween ones lol) then I see nothing wrong with it.
I know plenty of girls that do the fake eyelashes, and a friend of mine did extensions to to make her hair not look longer but because her hair is so fine and she wanted it to look fuller. If it's within your budget, I say go for it! My only advise, as someone that did theater most of her life, is spring for the really good eyelashes because nothing's tackier & more annoying than having one fall off, especially since you may be crying and dabbing at your eyes throughout the day!!
I'm not planning on going with either as I'm lucky enough to have long fully hair and lashes that are pretty good with just a quick coating of clear mascara. But I just wanted to agree with twalila. If you're going to go with them I'd pay the extra to get the really good quality fake lashes.
I think a few of the blogging Bees here have gone with fake lashes as well for their wedding day. So it's not too uncommon.
My make-up artist is putting the individual fake lashes on me, flares, I think she called them. I loved the way they look. I'm not going with extensions just because I love my bobbed curly hair.
I think you should go with what you want, and as much as possible, invest in those things that will make you feel great about your look.
I think since there will be so many pictures of that day, I will maybe try the eylashes and the airbrush make up. I already am growing my hair out so I won't need extensions.
I'm going to try Latisse! :o) Anyone else going the prescription eyelash route?
My hair is very fine and does not grow long well. When it gets past my shoulders it looks weighted down and stringy so I am not planning on growing my hair long for my wedding. My hairstylist has suggessted that I buy a hair piece to help add volume to the low bun I want. This is a good cost effective way of giving me the look I want on my wedding. Hair extensions can be expensive and I don't think I need them.
I have long hair, so I'm not going to do extensions, but I am doing fake eyelashes. I've never worn them before so I'm a little nervous! I'm not going to get the outrageous eyelashes, just the ones that enhance ;]
I'm doing both! I will be doing individual fake eye lashes as the look is more 'natural' and I have clip in extensions I'm attaching to the base of my head so my hair down looks more full. I'm alll for it!
No. My hair will be long by then (and it's thick as hell) so I won't need extensions. As far as lashes go, I hate wearing them, they're so uncomfortable. And the only thing that I was blessed with physically is naturally dark, thick lashes.
Lots of brides do fake eyelashes. I think it makes your eyes stand out in pictures so I will be getting them (my eyes get tiny when I smile). I can understand using extensions to make your hair fuller or just add a LITTTLE length so you could do more with but Ive seen girls go from extream short hair to extream long hair and she just didn't look like herself on her wedding day. I think extensions should ad a little something, not make you look completely different. But they can deff help
im actually also doing both very similar to @cmills...i have good lashes but will be using the "flares" or the ones that fill in to make them a tiny bit fuller...also as far as extensions, my hair dresser suggests i use the clip in ones (and you can barely tell!) she says its much better on my hair (as opposed to gluing or sewing them in) and even though my hair is medium lenght, its very fine so that will help give me some boost of volume :) i say go for whatever makes you feel comfortable doing!
I might be doing extensions but it will depend on how much my hair has grown out by then. See back in October I went to get my hair cut and the hair stylist (this was the woman I had normally gone to and was good) decided to give me the worst hair cut ever......she made the back really short and the front short but longer than the back. It looks like I have puppy ears. Also, I have a lot of hair and she texturized it so much that now it feels thin. I was PISSED. SO its been 4 months now and it hasnt grown out that much :-( So I will just have to wait and see
I've gotten extensions done before! 3 times, to be exact. That stuff ruined my hair! But, as for the fake eyelashes, yes...I am def. doing that.
I am doing the fake eyelashes or eyelash extensions. Hair extensions I am not doing because I have red hair and its impossible to match.
I'm also looking into fake lashes or eyelash extensions. I work fake lashes for FSIL's wedding, and it did take my eyes awhile to get used to the weight, so I think I might try the extensions out beforehand and see how those go.
I really want to get the lashes for my big day, but I'm not a girly girl and rarely wear makeup so I'm worried I'll look too over the top.
I did fake eyelashes and they photographed beautifully!! I'd definitely recommend doing them :)
I didn't really need extensions because my hair was pretty long anyway and I had my hair up for the wedding.
@Miss Biner, do the lashes!! You won't look over the top, you'll look very glam and bridey!! (I know that's not a word)
If you're having your makeup done by a pro, they should have different lash options for you, so you can pick the one that suits you best. I ended up using different lashes on my wedding day than the ones she'd used in my makeup trial, because I wanted them to be a little more dramatic.
i wear both every day - so i am definately having em at my wedding :)
I'll be wearing fake eyelashes ... I don't want to have to wear potentially smudgy mascara.
I am wearing my hair up so I am not concerned with extensions.
I definitely wanted lashes, even had them in my trial, but unfortunately, didn't have them on wedding day. I blogged about it here. =(
However, I didn't do extensions and didn't think to do them either because I have always had relatively short hair so I thought it would look weird on me. Done right, however, it could be kinda neat to have a new look.
No to extensions, yes to fake eyelashes. After looking at many wedding photos, I have concluded that fake eyelashes make the bride look killer. And I want to look killer!
Yes, I'm doing both! I'm doing the clip in extensions...bought them on Tuesday. I was able to find a perfect match. Wore them to church last night and everyone could tell that something was different, but didn't know what...They look so natural! I'm also excited about the lashes. I'm a glam-girl so it will work for me!
I envy all the girls who have nice hair.. but its a good envy! My hair is really fine and I have no choice but add some extensions especially because i'm curling my hair and leaving them down.. I'm not going to an extreme lenght but maybe adding 4 inches longer than my hair.
@Clairebee im sorry that happened.. do you just hate that it happens at the worse time of your life? You still have 7 months left so lets hope that it grows out and it will look nice again
@AzinAugust i tried the Lavita Lash and it took 6 weeks for my eyelashes to make a little difference.. My lashes were longer but they seemed thin.. which I really did not like.
My friend on the other hand was also using Lavita Lash and her eyelashes looked so thick and beautiful.. It all depends on your skin type and how fast your hair grows. But you will see at least a little difference..
@ Krissycake.. you looked lovely on your wedding. But i can see that your hair was not as curled as on your trial. All that matters now that you still looked very beautiful on your wedding day with out even adding lashes ;-)
falsies are a quick way to emphasize your eyes and glam it up~ and it's not permanent! Definitely try it out at least once (either try learning applying yourself or have someone who knows how to apply it properly apply it for you) and wear it for a whole day! see if the glue works for you, if it irritates your eyes, and whether or not you feel comofortable sporting them.
When I first tried it (ever) i kind of felt like a drag queen with too much makeup, but that was the wrong lash type for me and well, finding a great pair changed everything!
good luck!
No hair extensions for me, but eyelash extensions, yes! I'm still loving them!
i have too much hair as it is, so no extensions, but YES to the fake eyelashes! i'm korean, i need all the help i can get! :P
I'm not doing hair extensions, but I'm doing the individual eyelashes. :)
i'm doing both!! my hair is fairly thin and i like the volume with extensions, and lash extensions or individual lashes will be a must!!
I say do what makes you feel pretty! I'm doing my make-up myself (not just because I'm trying to be cheap, but I highly doubt anyone in town has ever extensively worked with Asians before ... and I don't want to be a guinea pig on my wedding day). I can put on make-up pretty well, but last time I tried putting on fake eyelashes myself, I glued my left eye shut!!! I think fake eyelashes are pretty and it'll look so good in pictures, but I've just got no skills! But still, I'm gonna try and practice!
It's once in a lifetime... go for it!
I will def. do the lashes. I'm not sure about the hair yet, my hair is at a decent length all i need to do at this point is take really good care of by conditioning it and keeping heat off it and hopefully if I do decide to do anything it will be the clip on hair. I don't want to look like many of my African American women with that really cheap, tacky, unrealistic fake hair in my head. Besides, my FI would die if he saw me walking towards him with a lot of fake hair! lol!
If my hair isnt long enough then for sure getting extensions I had them before and loved them. I have very full and long eyelashes naturally so no fake ones for me!
I am all about the fake eyelashes!! I will already have long hair so I won't need extensions but I don't see anything wrong with it! It's your big day and if that's what you want to do to make it extra special and feel/look your best, go for it! Don't do anything extreme, though, and give yourself enough time before the wedding to research and do trial runs to make sure it's what you want.
I want to get my lashes done...
as far as making my hair longer/thicker...maaaybe but I'm not sure yet! I've never done it before and I'd absolutely get it done professionally :)
Yes, and absolutely yes! Even though my natural hair is almost down to my mid-back, and I have pretty long eyelashes, I want to pull out all the stops for the special day. I'm going for the Kardashian sisters look, though I normally detest them :) If I'm going to look like a glamour puss for one day in my life, this is it!
