I’ve decided to not get my make up professionaly done…I’m just curious on if anyone else is doing it this way? Or even having a friend do it for you. If so, what brands are you using? What have you tried that works and doesn’t work?

I plan on doing my own 🙂 We’re having a morning ceremony, and my Type A personality won’t allow me to rely on 2 different trades (hair/makeup) showing up on time.
I bought a Dinair airbrush kit, and a sampler pack of colors, and I’ve been practicing. I really like it so far 🙂

I wear foundation, powder, and blush everyday…so I’m just doing that, with the addition of eyeshadow and mascara, and a tinted lipgloss.

@sam.stoinski: I’m doing my own make up. I doll myself up every day of life – there’s nothing a make up artist can do, that I can’t so I’m not wasting the money.
Plus, I’ve had my make up professionally done 3 times in my life – and every dang time, they put too-dark foundation on and I look like a clown with an orange mask :
I bought some fake eye lashes, bought a few products I might not normally (primer for eyes and face, face-setting spray) and I’m set 🙂

I am not. I booked a make up artist and I feel so much better about it. I’m not really into make up. I have a 5-minute face that I put on everyday but I don’t know/care about air brushing, contouring, shaping, shading, etc.
I love everything about it, but I’m just not into it enough to do it myself.

I did my own makeup. It saves money and you dont need to worry if they will show up on time etc.

I still haven’t made up my mind yet. I’ve gotten my makeup done professionaly twice before, and both times I felt like a beauty queen. I want to have that same feeling on my wedding day, but my main hesitation is the expense. I know I will be glowing either way, so I’m not sure if it’s worth the splurge.

@ANGELaaimt: Have you found that this brand is easy on the skin? Does it break you out at all? Also how cost effective is it?
I have been very curious about airbrush makeup. 🙂
@MrsEsteyToBe: This. The two times that I have had my makeup done my eyelashes had so much mascara they were clumping and yeah… I’m giving it a third shot for my friend’s wedding in March. I definitely need to learn some new eyeshadow tricks though. :/

That’s my problem, I’m not the greatest at doing my own make up and it’s just a quick thing! I was thinking maybe having my friend who is doing my hair (she’s a cosmetologist) do my make up as well? I just didn’t know what brands and different things I should buy for her to do it for me?

- Wedding: January 2013 - Harbourfront Grand Hall
I had mine done by an MUA in my home because I didn’t want to look like I look every day!

I’m doing my own. I used to be a makeup artist and I know the basics so I’m not too worried. I think I’m going to go to MAC/Sephora beforehand though and brush up on my skills.

@sam.stoinski: I did my own and practiced for the months leading up to the wedding. I used Make Up Forever’s HD foundation kit (primer, foundation, and setting powder), Urban Decay’s eye shadow primer, Naked Palette, and All Nighter Spray, Maybelline’s Illegal lenghts mascara and a Dior mascara on top of that, Stila eye liner and lip stick balm, Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush and bronzer, I can’t remember what brow pencil I used but I topped it off with Hustle from my Naked Palette, and The Balm’s highlighter. My make up lasted the entire night even through the rain. We had to walk out in the rain to get to the reception tent and back to use the bathroom.
I had the majority of this make up already and continue to use it today.
I would suggest going a lot heavier than normal because even doing it slightly more heavy, my make up didn’t show up in the pictures so well:

I am planning on doing my own as well. There are some fantastice makeup tutorials on youtube if anyone that is doing their own needs a few tips or just a little more insipartion!

I am doing my own because FI has said he would like me too be ‘more natural’, and also I own a lot of makeup so I am confident doing it.
I have been practicising (already!) and testing out what I own and a few new bits.
At the moment my makeup looks like:
Benefit blush and bronzer, mascara and primer, Revlon lip balm stain stick, Max Factor foundation (although I will be trying MUFE HD as well before I decide), Rimmel powder and a mix of eyeshadow including Urban Decay and Revlon. I’ve also been playing around with makeup setting spray and eyeliners, undecided so far.

I am definately not doing my own makeup. I do the same basics everyday and really want to look great on my wedding day. I know nothing about putting on foundation, etc and couldn’t do cool eyeshadow if I wanted to. And I don’t have the time nor the desire to practice.
I like the thought that all I have to do on my wedding day is wake up and take a shower and someone else will do my hair, makeup and I already know what I am wearing!!
