@iarebridezilla:  hahahaha! I think that most “olds” have a hard time with the texting. If I received that email from a friend, I’d assume drunk. From my dad/grandma/anyone over the age of 50? They’re just old.

Haha this made me laugh.  I vote bad at iPhone!

Sometimes I won’t even realize until after I send a text that it said something ridiculous (and I was sober), or have horrible caps or punctuation.

@iarebridezilla:  I vote bad at iPhone.  I would assume drunk if the sentiment wasn’t totally normal, just expressed with poor grammar.

When drunk, I can still type, but the shit I say…

ETA – I’m on a keyboard, at work, totally sober (bummer) and just mis-spelled a totally normal word.  Gah.

Bad at iPhone.

FMIL does the same thing sometimes (although English isn’t her first language so I usually blame any errors on that).

Don’t even get me started on FI’s aunt’s emails.  English is her first language but she and proofreading are complete and total strangers.  Total stream of consciousness word vomit.

I am going to vote bad at iPhone! Even I mistype sometimes. Or if I am typing too fast and my iPhone is struggling, then it can come out looking awful.

Before I had the qwerty keyboard, if I even got tipsy, I turned into the worst texter in the world. It was like I physically could not comprehend any longer that for L, you had to push 5 THREE TIMES.

So literally people would get crazy jumbled awful messed up words.

@jessicadarling:  Ahem! I was part of the generation that worked on the earlier versions of the computers that you “young people” now take for granted. I can assure you that 50 is (a) neither old, nor (b) an indication that you cannot manage technology.

Some people are just plain awful with any sort of phones or indeed the internet where they attempt to conduct all conversations in the abomination that is txt spk”. They can be any age.

To get back to the OP’s question, it could be either drink or problems with predictive texting. Probably difficult to call!
