If so, how long before the wedding day are you getting it done?

I haven't had my eyebrows waxed in ages and I can't remember how long it lasts! I was thinking about getting them waxed monday for my saturday wedding just in case there is any redness or little bumps/irritation. Will that be ok? Thanks :)

Monday should be okay... just keep an eye on them. You may have to pluck a few before the wedding :-)

I'll probably get mine done on Monday or so but that's because I break out every time with little white pimples for the first few days.

That should be good.  I have really sensitive skin, and my eyebrows only stay a little pink (no bumps or anything) for about a day, and they are perfect for about a week before I can start seeing little hairs again.

I feel like a week before the wedding should be fine!  I am planning on doing the same thing for mine!

I'm definintely getting mine done... but first I have to find someone to do them here- the girl that's been doing mine for years is in Atlanta!

I think you should be just fine. I get mine waxed all the time. My mom is a cosmetologist, so she does it. Redness usually just lasts through the day for me. Sometimes I get tiny bumps, but usually not. And if I do, they are definitely gone within a couple of days!

Depending on how fast your hair grows back (mine grows uber fast), it can last a week to several weeks. It'll be quite awhile before you see the full growth back. If you see any hairs popping up that are out of place, you can just get 'em with the tweezers.

    Thanks girls :)
@sunshine- I get the little bumps sometimes too! They go away, but I don't like it! The girl told me it was because I was probably touching too much afterwards... but they feel so smooth it's hard not to touch!

@KMSull- I'm a little worried about who will do mine too! When I used to get it done I always went to the same girl because she did them exactly how I liked them, but I have no idea if she is even working at the same shop. Uh oh!

I will probably get mine done a week before.  Sometimes my skin reacts to the wax but if it does it usually goes away in a few days.

I would get your eyebrows done now, then go back in for a touch up.  That way if you have a horrible reaction to the wax.

You could also try out threading.  I used to wax all the time, but I found that threading ended up looking more precise and I had less redness afterwards.  Not sure where you are, but in LA threaders are popping up everywhere & there are at least a few in each mall (while day spas do them as well)--usually under $10 for the service.

I thought about threading, but a girl at work told me it was super painful. She said it hurt worse than waxing... maybe it just wasn't done correctly, but it scared me into not trying it!

I get mine waxed every couple of weeks, in part because I hate plucking. I know that my skin reacts very well to it, so I personally feel comfortable doing my wedding brow wax a couple of days before. The Monday before should be fine for you, usually you don't see any hairs appearing for at least a week. Just take a good look the morning of to make sure a hair or two hasn't appeared that needs plucking.

To avoid the bumps and stuff associated with waxing, why not just acclimate to plucking?  I've been plucking my giant dark bushy Italian near-unibrow since I was 11 and have absolutely no pain or redness when I pluck, though I remember that I did at the very first.  I do it every few days.  That's a great way to have smooth brows without worrying about unsightly irritation...

I'm definitely getting mine done...probably the Wed. before my Sat. wedding. I usually don't have red bumps or irritation as long as I wash my face shortly after the waxing.

I would definitely try out threading! It doesn't irritate my skin as much, and it lasts a little longer.  I am doing it a week before as well, just in case I do get those little bumps.

It doesn't hurt that bad... it just feels kinda weird.

Im getting mine waxed on tues my wedding is on a saturday but since its a destination wedding im leaving on wed.  I say do it wednesday the redness will last about a day and to try to avoid bumps exfoliate lightly before waxing, even if it’s just a mild shower gel and washcloth. This helps rid the follicle of oil and debris. The waxing may bring this oil and debris to the surface, but now the skin is more vulnerable and can cause it to become irritated.

Yea I'm getting mines done. My MUA said to get them done a week prior just in case I have a bad reaction to the wax or something. So, Monday should be a good day for you.

    yep, either waxed or threaded.

i did threading a few times but for me it was very painful (like i feel every hair coming out whereas waxing, for me, is more instant pain, then subsides) But i may give it another go..some swear by threading is the best way to go. (Of course, pain is in fact personal and depends on individual thresholds and in some cases, the time of the month for a women due to changes in hormonal levels.)

i also get irritation at the waxed areas (i also get lip and chin done) so i'll have it done monday or tuesday before my saturday wedding. :) you'll be good to go, you may have to pluck random hairs but the shape should be there.

Probably about a week... usually the irritation goes away after 3 days for me, but I really don't want to take the chance that stress exacerbates it.

By the way, can you tell how sensitive my skin is? With low quality wax, the icky red irritation bumps stay for a week. I went to Ulta a few times, and I looked like a tomato for seven whole days!

Probably about 8 days before, and doing some plucking in the meantime to keep it up. If you haven't had it done before, I'd go in for a trial to make sure the wax is ok with your skin and the person actually is capable of doing it right!

I will be getting mine threaded for sure.  I feel like it is much more precise than waxing, and the pain varies from person to person.  I went with my sister who said that it feels like razor blades were being brushed across her brow, but I ended up enjoying the experience (even though I admit it did feel quite weird!).  So anyway, I would not disregard getting your eyebrows threaded just because of some horror stories!  You also have no chance of getting burned by the wax by getting them threaded, just a thought :)

Yeah getting them waxed on a Monday for a Saturday wedding sounds good. I haven't waxed them either. I'm thinking of getting them waxed now to find the shape that I like and then one more time before my wedding since my wedding is less than 4 months away. I also got a facial already. It felt so good and relaxing. Loved it. Pampering one's self feels sooo good.

If you get irritation from waxing, DEFINITELY try threading!  I started getting my eyebrows threaded last year and I would never ever go back to waxing.  It's more precise and your eyebrows look way better.

It does hurt more than waxing, but nothing you can't handle I'm sure :o)

I pluck now, and I like it, but I want to wax before the wedding. It just feels so much cleaner to me and really... I'm just lazy and I don't want to have to worry about plucking the week of the wedding :)

For me, threading (depending on who does it) hurts more for the moment, but waxing used to leave a sting.  However, I got threaded today, and it didn't hurt at all--I didn't even flinch!  It totally depends on who does it.

Also, I am almost never happy with my eyebrows, so I am probably going to go to the same person all throughout the summer so that I am SURE that they know what I want.  For me, getting it done more than a week before the wedding would mean that it wouldn't be really clean on the day-of, so I would rather go to one person consistently so that I can be sure of the look, than get it done too far in advance & have to touch up.

Why don't you do a trial run? Have the eyebrows waxed this weekend and see how long it takes for the irritation go away. I would totally recommend threading though, it's not at all irritating the way waxing is. Waxing takes off the top skin layer, for crying out loud!

Don't listen to your coworker, she's exaggerating!

I'll probably get them done 2 days before. I've been waxing my brows for so long that they're pretty much impervious to pain. :)

I did it about a week and a half before the wedding, I had no redness though for more than a day, but you can't be too careful!

Yes def getting all waxed before the wedding!  I would say to get them done Wed.  This way hopefully nothing will grow back that you have to pluck before the big day!  If you end up having redness it usually is gone within a day or so!

I get my brows (and lip Surprised) waxed every four weeks like clockwork (I have a mild eyebrow obsession!).  I just got them done this past weekend and talked to my gal and she told me that 5 days to a week before is ideal, that way there shouldn't be any re-growth.

However, if this isn't something you normally do - I'd go a few months ahead of time to see how your skin reacts (some people get REALLY red - thankfully not me!).
