I hadn't even considered getting my hair done for the rehearsal dinner.
Nope, not for the rehearsal dinner. If I have time, I might con my one talented BM into doing my hair... but if we don't have time, it's not a big deal to me. I will definitely do my own makeup though.
Nope! I can't afford that haha. But even so, I don't see why it would be necessary. I'll probably put more effort into it, probably wearing it down instead of a pony tail :)
The last time I had my hair professionally done was...oh, wait. Never. Ha. I'm going to take a guess and say that I won't be going to the pros for the rehearsal dinner. :P
No, I'm not. I could because my MOH is my hairdresser but I never even thought about it. I think it's just a rehersal dinner and isn't worth the money or hassle.
I wish I could but I'm not. Not only are my funds going to be TAPPED. I literally won't have the time to get it done that day.
I did! I wanted a chignon which I am terrible at doing. I had it done at a salon next door to our church so I could just run over afterward.
I just can't justify the expense - I'm doing my hair myself for the RD. Besides...my wedding is the next day, and I don't want to go in to get my hair done on my actual wedding day and have a ton of product still in it from the night before. You're not supposed to go in with clean hair, but I also don't want to go in with excessive gunk in it!
I'm scheduling my regular hair appointment for the day of the rehearsal dinner. Here's my reasoning: (1) I spend money to get my hair done every 6 weeks anyway, (2) I want my hair to look good for the honeymoon. It won't be special, but my hair looks way better when my hairdresser blows it out because I have not talent for doing my hair other than putting it in a ponytail.
I would generally say no, but I am lucky enough to have two best friends who do hair and make up. So for me I wont be going to a salon, but I am sure the girls wont mind coming to my house to make me look awesome!
My advise for other brides who do not want to spend the money on getting your hair done for the rehearsal dinner...play with come curlers and different styles..see what you can come up on your own. Even if you are not good with doing your hair, I am sure you can do something on your own to make it look good! :)
My main concern isn't money, but time and stress -- because that weekend is going to be so hectic anyway, and I have guests coming from OOT that I want to spend time with. My mom just made it sound like not having pro hair would be a huge taboo, and I'm not the best at doing my own, so it's really helpful to hear about what everyone else is doing.
@Girlwitharing - Why don't you just go and get a "blow out" at the salon? That wouldn't take much time, would make your hair look nice, and appease your mom!
i did consider it.. but not sure i will or not. Depends on if i can squeeze it in the budget... also, i may just want to keep things fairly easy breezy that day before the wedding... i'll get my salon fix the day of the wedding maybe. we'll see!
My stylist is more than just a stylist, she's my friend. She will definitely be at the rehearsal dinner, and might possibily curl my hair for the dinner. However, if it wasn't for our relationship, I would never think about having someone professionally style my hair for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding.
I second what ottawa bride said... a style should take like 15 mins and be little stress, plus its cheaper!
I am getting a blowout, but mostly to prep my curly, frizz-prone hair for the next day's updo. I could so it myself, but I feel like it would get pushed to the sidelines during the hectiness if I didn't make an actual appointment.
No, I hadn't even thought about it. Our RD is going to be at my FI parents, so it will be very informal.

We're having a typical RD at an Italian restaurant. I wasn't going to get my hair done, but my mom is really upset about it. I am not one of those girls that's amazingly good with my hair...it's naturally straight, and I usually don't style it much. I didn't think pro hair for the RD was something many brides do...am I wrong and is it actually common? Are you going to get your hair/makeup professionally done?
