Are you going to or did you keep a pregnancy journal?

MrsDusso:  Congratulations on your BFP!

I currently use one of those 5 year journals, where you write one line a day for 5 years. I am on year 3 right now. So when I become pregnant, I will probably just allow my pregnancy to take up a lot of my concentration on those small entries. When I have a lot on my mind, I use other journals to write longer entries as well. I like the One Line A Day journal because there is no pressure to actually write every single day, but there is space for that if you want.

It could be cool to start a 5 year one during pregnancy and then it will extend into your LO’s 4th year. Could be fun to dedicate the whole journal to things about them. 🙂

MrsDusso:  I didn’t write in a journal per se, but did a weekly post (including a bump photo) the entirety of my pregnancy and showed them when I entered the second trimester.  Now I try to actively write a weekly post of my daughter with updates.

When I was pregnant I kept track of:

How far along?

Total weight gain/loss:

Maternity clothes?

Stretch marks?

Sleep:

Best moment this week:

Miss Anything?

Movement:

Food cravings:

Anything making you queasy or sick:

Gender:

Labor Signs:

Symptoms:

Belly Button in or out?

Rings on or off?

Happy or Moody most of the time:

Looking forward to:

It was nice to see how my belly changed and how I was throughout the entire pregnancy.  Now that Sophie’s here hte questions changed a good bit, but I realized how long this post was so I wanted to stop at here.

Sort of. I didn’t buy an official journal, but having been writing letters to the baby as I go along, which (someday!) I’ll put in a scrap book with some other things. I view it as more of my journey than baby’s- the baby journal is going to get a lot more attention to detail.

I have just writted down some highlights like how I was feeling in each trimester (currently in my third), any cravings, when I felt the first movements, when my DH felt the first movements etc. Just to remember it all. I also have a super cute baby book that I will start to fill out once our little guy gets here.

I’ve been keeping a journal since I got my BFP.  I haven’t been writing in it as much as I wanted, but I’ve averaged a few entries per month so far.  I’m looking at them as letters to the baby, talking about how I’m feeling, what’s going on in our lives, what I’m excited or nervous about at the time.  I’m also including some pictures (ultrasound photos, bump pics, pictures from things I write about, like visits with family).  I think it’ll be nice to show to my son or daughter some day (or even give to them when they’re older).

Probably just a photo journal to document, but nothing written.  I have no desire to remember my weight gain stats or anything else really.

I’m not pregnant yet, but I plan to.  My mom did when she was pregnant with me.  She showed it to me for the first time a few years ago, and I’m reading it again now that I’m TTC.  It’s so cool to read!

MrsDusso:  I’m not pregnant.  But my mum gave me a letter when I was about 21.  She’d just found it.  She started it when she was pregnant for me and it just stops one day.  It’s not finished, but life got too hectic and she put it away and over the years it got further and further back.  When she was cleaning out a box of photographs she found it, neatly folded and its about 7 pages long.

I love it!  I also love that it just ends… It’s so neat to see what she was thinking when she was pregnant for the first time.  And what she hoped for me (eventually us – I have a younger sister.)  I definitely want to do something similar.

MrsDusso:  I am writing letters to my baby.  I am 8 weeks pregnant – and have written one so far.  I will be putting them on patterned paper and will bind them together at the end into a book.

You ladies get major props! I was going to keep a journal, but just did weekly pics instead. Too lazy to write haha. Even so, after 35 weeks I was DONE being pregnant, so I even stopped taking photos. I’ll be sure to tell her that story later. 😉

I’m doing something similar to mrs.joiner, but I’ve really been slacking since I hit 20 weeks and got busy with work!

A closer look at the pictures that I added to the journal:
