I just wanted to know if any of you are planning on reading your FH’s speech before the big day? I wasn’t planning to, but he offered to read it to me to see what I thought. He left out all the bits about me, but he had included this quote by Homer Simpson:
“”Marriage is like being married to your best friend. And he lets you play with his boobs.”
WHAT!? I told him there wasn’t a chance in hell he’d be mentioning my boobs in his wedding speech. He wasn’t too happy about it, but he’s now removed it. What are you guys doing? Do you trust your guy to deliver and appropriate speech or will you be editing it?

He wants it to be a surprise, just like our vows. I am still not sure if I will make one yet.

If he offered I would read it, but if he wanted to keep it a surprise I would respect that.
However, if we do decide to give speeches, I think we would cover the ground rules of appropriate context first.

My husband didn’t make a speech at our wedding, but if he was planning on it, I think I would want it to be a surprise. I think it’s a good thing you read your FH’s speech beforehand though! I’d kill my husband if he said something like that in front of our entire families!!

I agree with @missmouse29, if he offered, I’d read it but we would have to establish that there is a line as to what is appropriate and what isn’t.

Thanks, gals. I really didn’t want to read it, but I think he was proud of it, and except for that one comment, it was great!

ohmygod, wasd he really going to say that in front of family? Thank God you read it!
WE aren’t doing any kind of speeches or words to one another ,because FI is too shy. He was mortified when I told him our jp wanted us to say personal vows to one another. LOL.
