I have lots of time to think about it, and I don’t even have my dress picked out yet, but I don’t think I could give it up. I think I’m going to become very attached to it and it’s going to have a lot of sentimental value and I’m going to want to take it out and show my little girl one day, should I ever have one. I’m definitely not against buying a preowned dress, but I think once it’s mine, it’s a keeper. However, I am looking to unload a bridesmaid dress, and I would love for it to end up a prom dress for a girl who couldn’t otherwise afford one. I’ve been trying to find a local charity that does that.

By the way, I once bought a red David’s Bridal bridesmaid dress from eBay to have as a cocktail dress, so there’s probably someone out there who will want it!

I plan to sell my dress after my wedding.

Yes, it’ll hold a lot of sentimental value, but I’d rather have my expensive dream dress for less (after its sale) than have had to settle for something lesser.

I will probably sell mine, if I buy the one I have my eye on. If I have it made, I will probably keep it and if I go with something from JCrew, I’ll probably keep it and wear it again {gray dress}.

Mine is a keeper, it is tea length and less formal than most- I’m thinking of either a color change, ttd, or something like that.  It wasn’t very expensive but even more, I just don’t think I could part with it!

I plan to sell my dress once it is back from the cleaners. We don’t have the space and could use the money. I am keeping the beautiful matching mantilla veil, though, for my daughters to wear.

I lack the sentimental gene: I plan to sell mine! It was lovely and quite expensive. I want someone else to enjoy it for less. 🙂

My dress is still at the dry cleaners, but I haven’t decided what to do with it yet.  I actually really want to try to see if I can alter it to wear it as a cocktail dress.  I think it would be really cool to wear for a vow renewal/anniversary party someday as a cocktail dress.  Unfortunately, I don’t know ANYTHING about sewing, so I’d have to find someone a little handier than me to check it out.

I’ve been thinking about this too. I don’t know what I’ll ever do with it again, and I’m sure there is someone else who could use it, but I’m not ready to give it up.

I’m not sure if I want to sell it yet! I’d probably only get like $200 back on it. I’m tryiing to determine if it’s worth keeping for fun for if we have daughters or donating or what. I have a photographer friend who would probably appreciate if i hold onto it so she can work on her portfolio

You know, I’m really undecided about it.  I think that I’ll take some time away from the dress after the wedding and then re-evaluate how I feel about what I want to do.

On an interesting side note, I wrote a post about this topic on my blog this morning…really weird that I’ve now found this thread…anyway, one of my BMs offers another alternative to what to do with your wedding dress.

Check it out…

I can’t decide! The sentimental part of me says no but the practical part of me says sell it.

i’m tempted to cut it short and wear it as a cocktail dress – it’s a nicole miller and she has colored versions of the dress in floor length and knee. i love it and am hoping to wear it again! 🙂
