We’re having a “late night snack” at 10:00. Buns, lunch meat, cheese, crackers, etc… plus we’ll put out slices of wedding cake that didnt get eaten earlier.

It’s probably most appropriate to nix the sweet table if your venue passes out coffee, small sweet treats. I personally wouldn’t have  a problem with it because I’m well aware of the cost of a wedding in today’s economy. But others that often attend traditional weddings may be a bit put off by it.

I do know a man that is still complaining about a wedding he attended two months ago because the table cloths didn’t match the centerpeices, there wasn’t a fruit selection and the only meat served was roast beef.

If you can’t afford it, don’t worry about it! All that guests truly expect is cake anyway. Usually a dessert buffet is something that’s included in a package, or is an additional cost, but it’s definitely NOT expected at weddings.

I wouldn’t at all think twice if we attended a wedding without one.

I have honestly never heard of a “sweet table” (though I get the concept of it) lol.  So I’m thinking you’re good without it.  Is it a regional thing?

I don’t think it’s necessary at all. I think it’s a nice bonus, but every wedding I’ve been to the guests are so stuffed from dinner the late night table barely gets touched! That’s not stopping me from having one at mine, but I’m also providing doggie bags for everyone 😉  I wouldn’t stress about skipping out on this at all.

I just booked a company called “yesterdog” in my home town Grand Rapids, MI. They are brining in a make your own hot dog bar during the last half hour of the reception, I can’t wait! They come in and set up steamers, toast the buns, chili, cheese, kraut, pickles, onion, ketchup, mustard, onion.. I can’t wait! Haha – Our reception is going to be pretty formal so I think it will be a fun way to end the night! (And to soak up all the booze people have drank!)
