He’s not my “type” at all!! I’m a total bookworm and I don’t think he’s read a full book in the 3 1/2 years we’ve been dating. I’m super into working out and being active, and it’s like pulling teeth to get him to work out with me. I also never thought I’d be with someone who is really into video games and whatnot, but my FI plays World of Warcraft all the freaking time.

..but he makes me happy, so that’s really all that matters.Smile

Hahaha that’s so true. I finally got my fiance to at least LISTEN to books – he will buy books on tape of some books and listen to them on his way to class, etc. He loves it, and then I don’t get so annoyed because I can’t talk to him about my favorite books.

Of course, he’s still only listened to about 5 or 6 books since we’ve been dating…but it’s something!

I think he is pretty much exactly the type I always thought I’d marry (but strangely, the first guy of that type that I actually dated. πŸ™‚

I’ve always preferred tall boys (he’s 6’2″), have generally gravitated towards blondies (heehee), and although I’ve always liked the way lanky guys look, I’ve always dated bigger guys (like my FI). So physically he is definitely my type, and that surprised no one.

What was more important was that I had always thought I’d meet and marry someone at least as educated as me, who is SMART. I’ve dated guys I’ve gone to school with (as educated) but not as smart, and guys who are pretty intelligent but not necessarily traditionally educated. I know it’s not important to everyone, but a value of education was important to me. FI finished his doctorate last year and may be the only guy I’ve dated who I think is smarter than I am. πŸ˜‰ So he wins! πŸ˜‰

Haha, my fiance is EXACTLY my type. My friends and family laughed about it because I always, always, always go for the light-haired, light-eyes kind of classically handsome type. In fact, we were introduced by my best friend from high school–she told me, “I met this guy that you absolutely HAVE to meet, he’s exactly the type of guy you like, his looks and his personality are perfect for you.”

Yeah, I’m not really much of an “academic”, especially not anymore, but I have a liberal arts background and it was always important to me to find someone who thought about the world in a similar way. πŸ™‚ It would have been hard even to marry someone with a Ph.D. in something like engineering. πŸ˜‰

I am definitely marrying my type- tall, skinny, non-athletic, very pale, light colored hair, nerdy, loving and loyal, non-drinker, very energetic, smart, funny and ambitious/creative.

What I didn’t expect that I got: blue eyes (tended to date dark eyed guys) and emotional (I’m kind of a hard-hearted/cold person at times, just not emotional).

He is PERFECT though, his emotions balance out my almost total lack-there-of at times, and he has an adorable angel face (blonde hair, super pale, big blue eyes, round face, beauty mark). He has crazy hair, like his mom’s, wavy blonde. I tend to go for long hair guys automatically, like it’s hard-wired in or something hah, but he has so much fluffy hair, I love it! ;D But it looks great short and sort of 1950ish/faux-hawked too!

my guy isn’t my type either.  He doesn’t like sports, just movies and video games.  he also doesn’t like red meat and I LOVE it.

He’s shorter than I thought I would marry and isn’t very handy–but even though I couldn’t see it–he’s perfect for me.

I was JUST thinking about this the other day. When I was younger, my ‘type’ was guys who I thought of as ‘adventurous’ but really that translated into ‘irresponsible’ and often ‘jerks’. I guess I always expected to be the responsible, level headed one going around rolling my eyes and cleaning up after some crazy lovable but CRAZY guy. …I’m not really sure WHY I ever thought that would be appealing. I guess I was just really into the ‘bad boy’ thing.

After my last relationship ended (serious, long, and he cheated), I kind of gave up on men, haha. I made this long list of things I would need in a man if I ever got back into it, and then never expected to find someone who fit it. I was ready to be single forever.

Enter J, who is responsible, has a good job, educated, respectful of me and gender equality, shares my values, has a similar upbringing to me, is CRAZY about ME, giving, financially stable… all the things on my list. He even sings beautifully. I never thought it would happen, but… he’s perfect for me. And totally not what I expected.

I do believe I am marrying my type, though I wasn’t sure exactly what my type was until I met FI. He’s not perfect, but he’s perfect for me!

Physically, he’s got everything I love with the exception of dark hair…like you, CorgiTales, I like the brunettes! But even as a dark blonde, he’s the most gorgeous man on Earth πŸ™‚ He’s also exactly as tall as I am (we’re both a little over 6 feet), and that’s something I’ve always wanted.

Personality wise, he is sweet, communicative, generous, just a touch of brooding, and the mentality that we’re a team. We’re forming an equal partnership. Something that surprised me that I didn’t know I’d want so much is how much he pays attention to the little things. It’s awesome!

I don’t know that I have a “type” b/c i’ve dated about 5 different guys and they all had very different personalities. The longest was 8 months and the shortest was 3 weeks

I will say this is my THIRD military man. I dated a private and a sargeant before. So, maybe I do have a “type”, oye vez. Not the type I ever thought or hoped I’d have!
