Hi Ladies!
I am suffering from a severe case of engagement brain, and have found myself checking the left hands of almost all the women I encounter. Do you notice? I'm not comparing in a catty way, but I like to see all the different styles and cuts! One thing I've noticed is how much the generations change - older women almost always have yellow gold, lots of marquis diamonds or thick bands. Women my age (20s) always seem to have white gold or platinum with princess cuts or radiants.. It's really interesting to see how jewelry trends have evolved! Seems like right now the hot thing is Halo, which are stunning. Anyways! Just wanted to amp up the ring talk! Hope you're all doing okay with the waiting.. I'm secretly going nuts but have managed to be really good about not mentioning it to the man!
I absolutely look at rings more now!! so don't feel bad ;)
I think it is very fun to compare the many different, and in their own ways beautiful, styles (personal style as well as times trends)
Um, I still notice everyone else's rings...constantly. I notice most jewelry though.
I love halos on colored stones, btw. It's my favorite look!
I totally notice everyone else's rings too! Its not even something I think about, my eyes are just drawn to the sparkle!
Haha! Glad I'm not alone. My boss is a dragon but she has a HUGE radiant cut diamond.. It's hard focusing when she comes to my desk cuz that things throws sparkle rays right into your face! Also one of my coworkers just got engaged and has a stunning ring.. but she says she doesn't really even notice she's wearing it! Said the ring just wasn't a big deal to her. I'm like.. umm.. bring on the bling! :)
Oh I immediately look at the left hand when I meet a woman for the first time. It's a sickness, I think. But if it's wrong, then I don't wanna be right.
I think I actually notice rings less now than when I was waiting for mine! =) For about half a year before my boyfriend proposed, I kept noticing other women in my university classes sporting rings on That Finger, and I would get SOOOO jealous!
I definitely still notice them...but just not consciously. I kind of think "oh, well that's a pretty ring" instead of "it's not fair!".
(In my fiance's defense, it was my own fault that it took so long for him to propose.)
i seem to be able to spot a new piece of bling 20ft away! we went to a dinner and even in the low light i went "hello, thats new!" and it was a e-ring on a lady i see every few months then a few months later, at night in a carpark, i noticed she had a wedding band on and they had eloped
hubby has no idea how i spot it but i do :)
Oh my goodness...I spot engagement rings all the time! I can't resist their sparkle!
When I got engaged, I started to look as well. Now that I'm married, look for the wedding band as well! I'm weird .. but at least I'm not alone! haha
Shoot, I've always looked at other rings before I was engaged, during my engagement, and even now that I'm married. I just LOVE jewelry. :)
LOL believe me, I think my addiction to looking at women's rings actually got WORST after we got engaged. Yup, I have become that sicko on the subway staring at randoms. Sigh

I love jewelry too.. so maybe all of us that just naturally check out the goods do it just because we love jewelry!!
As you may have already realized, you are totally not alone! I got engaged in May and I feel like this addiction is getting more and more severe! (@catlady, I can totally identify with you.) I can spot the rings from across the hallway, across the room, ... i'm obsessed. ;)

wow, I'm so glad I found this post bc I'm TOTALLY right there with you guys! Before we got engaged, I was so green with ring envy I'd have given Kermit the Frog a run for his money...Now that I got my own bling, it's definitely more along the lines of "ooooh, all these rings are so pretty, I just want to look and look and look!"....but yeah, I am also the psycho starer in the subway, inching closer to someone just to check out their 2 kt rock :) Sparkle sparkle sparkle!
ugh...YES!! and i STARE!!!! (i hope im not too obvious sometimes, i cant help it!!) Im checking out everyone's left hand, young and old!!!! I get a little jealous :) of the young ones (cant help it!!!) that have already "moved into" engagement mode!!! lol...but yes, i have noticed how the older generations, yellow gold with the marquis diamond was all the rage, now its white gold and platinum with our generation!
@ eloping, haha i was on the train the other day and this girl had NEW bling on...i was like DANNNNG someone just got engaged last night!!!! HAHAHAHAHA Yes i can totally spot it too!!
@sonipapdi, although im not even engaged yet, i check for the e-ring first and then if i see that i also check for the wedding band as well!!!

I love seeing other women's beautiful rings--and I sometimes can't stop myself from admiring aloud. It's nice to have that bonding experience with other women.
It gets worse after you get engaged. At least, it did for me.
What???!!! Other women have rings??? LOL!!! I totally notice, I love to see the different stones/cuts etc.
I'm always looking! Especially on the subway, sometimes you have the choice of looking at someone's hands or someone else's butt. 
I totally have ring envy!!!!!!!
My Future husband and I are planning the wedding without the ring.. Grrr... So I am playing the waiting game and so in the process I check out every other women's ring!
My FH thinks I am insane because not only do I get at him about my naked ring finger but I am always saying "Oh she has a beautiful ring - and he cannot believe how I can spot them!
At least I know I am not alone!
I'm with Mermaid- it's gotten Worse since I got engaged last week! I look at Every woman's hand that I pass.
Yeah, I feel kinda creepy doing it. I'm scared they'll think I'm staring at their cleavage or something. lol
When I was doing ring research / just having ring envy I spent (spend?) a lot of time staring at rings at my work. Everyone has something different and beautiful! I got a lot of ideas and it was something fun to do during boring meetings ;)
Oh gosh, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one looking at left hands! I can't help myself, it just is an impulse now. I hate to think that its because I'm comparing...but yeppp half of the time thats what I'm doing...I am a horrible person!
I noticed people's rings before, but only to say "oh, that lady is married". But now I look at their engagement rings for shape, style, cut - I am really checking them out!
Oh yes, definitely! Whether it's in the elevator at work or on the subway, I can't help but notice all the beautiful engagement rings out there. I've become quite good (or I hope!) at the furtive glance.
I am always noticing rings. Before I was engaged I was completely oblivious. I didn't know anything about diamonds or engagement rings.
I still think mine is the best ever lol but that's because it's all mine. It's cushion cut.

my FH decided to tell me that he is giving me a ring at "somepoint" in the next 5 months but wont tell me when , it could be for my birthday in october, our one yr in november, his birthday in december or christmas..I am already looking at other women's rings and thinking of what it might look like on my fingers,ahhhh I hate being green but i guess its sort of nice that I know its coming....who am I kidding it's worse that i know its coming, 5 months .eep!!
Ok, this is amusing to me. We decided not to have engagement rings. And somehow, this seems to have resulted in my still being oblivious to other people's rings. We had a DC gtg at one point, and I honestly didn't notice that everyone else was wearing engagement rings until one of them said something about it.
haha! This thread cracks me up. I also can't wait to pick out a band.. but that's a long time coming, gotta get that e-ring first! I'm so curious if I'll get a pave, engraved band designed to go with my e-ring or stick with something simple (and less expensive!)... Oooh I love rings!!
So funny -- I found that as soon as I got engaged, I became acutely aware of other people's rings. Not in any kind of comparative way, but just in general... it's like, suddenly I was engaged and I wanted to see who else was too! Glad to hear I'm not the only weirdo out there obsessed with looking at random strangers' hands :)
