I plan to use Kodak's ofoto gallery to make my own album. I am recieving a cd with all 700 photos!!! That should give me a project after the wedding.
Mine comes with the package we selected. But no album for the parents so we'll do those in Shutterfly.
We're makin our own album, although I'm concerned that the quality won't be the same as the albums made by the photographer. However, we can't stomach paying nearly a grand with the professional album!
An album comes with our photography package, so it was a no brainer:)
I'm a big fan of Blurb, so I think we'll be make our album and parent albums from them. They look really nice, and they're like a quarter of the price of regular albums.
Mine came with the package, but we would have ordered it either way because we figured we wanted a really nice album one way or another.
There is a place called Shutterfly.com, they make amazing albums. If you ever end up getting just the digital photographs, you can create your own leather bound album on that website =)
We're getting our album included with our package, but we'll do the parent and grandparent albums ourselves. Luckily, we're getting a complete set of high-res proofs, and FH is really good with that kind of stuff.
Our album also came with our package, but had it not, we probably would have anyways. Our photographer did a great job on our album, so any album I would have made myself would pale in comparison.
We're going to use MyPublisher to make a nice, big book for us and maybe a smaller one for my parents.
I researched about 25 websites/software to make my own albums right after we received our digital photos. Although we are also getting an album from our photog (because it was included in our package) I wanted to make my own to have "right now" and for parents and grandparents for Christmas gifts.
I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the Mac IPhoto Software for making Photo Books. I have now made 5 on my Mac and the thing I like best is that I can use my own photos as the background for all my pages (instead of a generic pattern/solid color background). My books turned out beautifully and were incredibly affordable.
Just wanted to pass along this great find!
Ours came with the package, and we are glad becuase we love her albums! That being said, if we couldn't afford her albums we would have done a nice blurb or shutterfly book. I think those are good options, I also think that if its in the budget and the photog has good albums, its totally worth it.
An album is included in my package, but I would have added one even if it hadn't been. But I will be making my own parents/grandparents albums, using Mpix.com. Not only do the do uber-professional looking albums, but they do coffee table books, soft cover books, playing cards, big prints, and lots of other neat stuff. I use Mpix anytime I need something done with pictures.
I made our album on Blurb. Here is a link some pictures. I honestly can't imagine that my photographer could have done a better job.
We are getting a beautiful album from our photographer that came with the package. Yeah, it's crazy expensive, but it is the ONLY thing I'll have from the wedding day. So it's important to us.
Thanks ladies. We met with our photographer today and checked out the albums. We still haven't decided yet, but I'm really digging the mypublisher.com option. Thanks for the feedback!
I just went today to check out the pages and approve them before they get bound and WOW! It makes me so happy that I got my wedding album through my photographer! There's a few metallic pages and they just add that extra special something that you can't get when you make one yourself.
I'm kinda bias as I am a photographer so photos are very important to me. Not that I'm trying to sell anyone on something they don't want or need but take this into consideration. Albums from your photographer are expensive. They are very time consuming and expensive for your photographer to produce. The reason they are expensive is because they are made to last a lifetime. They are created with archivability in mind that will provide you with a family heirloom using special glues and sub-dyed archival photographic paper. Whereas prepress books (shutterfly, mypublisher, blurb) are great, the quality isn't guaranteed against time. Some of you might say ok well I have a DVD of time images. Burned DVD's have a shelf life of about 5 years (a little longer if stored properly) and what happens if that particular file format (most likely .jpg) becomes a thing of the past. At least a quality album can outlive technology. Just my two cents.
I absolutely love www.smilebooks.com , you can always google them for great coupon codes. (We used them for our photo guest book, using our engagement pictures.)
However, our photographer's package actually includes one of the coffee table albums (cha-ching!)....so I don't have to fret about working this "wish list item" into the budget.

I'm in the process of choosing a photographer, and am pondering purchasing an album. They are just soooo expensive. Are you ordering an album from your photographer? If not, are you making your own? What website are you using to make it? Thanks hive!
