@billyjoelfan: We’re planning to end the evening with a floating sky lantern launch.  That’s probably the biggest wow factor we’re having.  Although our venue is pretty wow too, it’s a gorgeous historical inn.

I think our venue is the “wow” factor. It’s really unique and beautiful 🙂

We’re going to have a faux-tobooth with one of those awesome photo frame wall backgrounds.  It’s also a masquerade-themed reception, which is pretty wow-ful on its own.

@billyjoelfan: I think our wow factors are part of our venue. There is this gigantic 2 story chandelier.. and an art museum that we will be hosting cocktail hour in. Other than that there will be individual tent structures which not many people have seen..a photobooth (the DIY type.. by our photographers) and a string quartet. We are also looking into having someone come to do caracature drawings. Pretty standard stuff.

Good question! We’re very early in the planning for this. I think we’ll do a photo scavenger hunt, putting disposable cameras on each table and giving people a list of photos to grab over the course of the night. I saw it on Four Weddings and thought it was such a cute idea!

we had 3 different favors for each guest that were given out at different times, so that was the unexpected part of our wedding. they were given a DIY fan, a box of jordan almonds and then a box of home made pastries to take home.

The venue itself is a total “wow”.  We are having the cocktail hour in the Italianate garden complete with fountains and an old mansion.  (The movie Ghosts of Girlfriends Past was filmed there.)  Then guests mosey through the other gardens where lawn games will be set up, eventually making their way to dinner and dancing in the carriage house.  We are also doing a sparkler send-off.

@Bostongrl25: haha I was going to say the same thing!

I think our decor itself was the “wow” factor. I’m sure my friend was exaggerating to be kind, but he said when they opened up the doors to the reception hall he heard people gasp and say wow. I like to believe it was true 🙂

@billyjoelfan: we are doing both a chocoloate fountain and a photobooth!

I think the dessert hour in general is a wow factor, I believe that the wait staff put on some kind of little show with sparklers and flambe.

In general, I think ALL of the food at my wedding will be a wow factor!

the ceremony space at our venue is a serious WOW.   We are also having a photobooth.

2 man band, diy photo booth, diy video dance party (made up of various concert footage of shows we’ve been to – ties to the invites which will be a concert flyer and a concert ticket to rsvp with), maybe maybe maybe a wii with rockband. choc fountain too.

It’s outdoor so I just read the lawn games post and might steal that for croquet or something!!

Our ceremony and reception venues are what we focused on to be the “wow” factor. They’re absolutely gorgeous. I might be bringing in donuts as a late night snack (because everyone who knows me knows that I LOVE donuts) but that’s more of a treat than a wow factor. lol
