    Hi ladies -

I would like to have floral centerpieces, and I wondered if I could reduce some of the cost by purchasing my own vases/urns/whatever.  I have not met with any florists yet, so I am speculating at this point.  The cost effectiveness probably depends on the particular florist and the particular arrangement, but I was wondering what you encountered.

Did you buy your own centerpiece containers?  Did it save you money?  I welcome your experiences!  Thanks!

I think you should talk to a florist first to see if it will actually save you money. I bought my own containers, but that's because I did my own centerpieces; renting wasn't an option. :)

One thing to keep in mind is that apparently a lot of wedding guests take floral centerpieces home with them? If you are renting your containers, you'll have to consider how you'll make sure people don't leave your wedding with them!

I guess it depends on what you need for your centerpiece container, but my florist told me they don't rent that stuff out because it wouldn't really be worth it.  She said basically the biggest part of the price is the flowers, and the containers are just a small fraction of pricing.

I bought mine bc I had a very specific idea for centerpieces (blue mason jars).  I don't know if it will end up saving me money, to be honest, but it was fun to shop for them at flea markets and stuff...

I bought all of my containers and filler to reduce what the florist would charge me for the same thing. Doing the leg work myself definitely saved some money--now I am only paying her for the flowers and set-up. It also helped me to break up some of the costs because I was able to purchase materials well before the final payment.
