Hi Ladies! I'm wondering if any of you have received PMs from vendors on Weddingbee? We work very hard to keep the boards spam free, but due to privacy restrictions, we have no idea if any of you are receiving unsolicited PM spam. So I have a poll for you. Are any of you receiving unsolicited spam from vendors via WB PMs?
I haven't since I joined, but I did get an unrelated phone call today for registering with Alfred Angelo for something...it was odd, but it reminded me that I need to start getting serious with my shopping.
I have only once, and just didn't respond. I haven't been bothered since.
I did, but I think only twice in the 1.5 years I have been on WB. Both were PMs based on posts I wrote. It wasn't a huge deal.
I think I got one, but it was really well disguised like she was just letting me know about her friend...it was weird.
Well, I think I got one because I was trying to figure out if I needed a DOC and was talking about how I don't know if I can afford one because of my budget.
She told me that she is a doc and was willing to see what she could do for me.
That was the only time. It didn't bother me.
I would have been annoyed if it was spam but it wasn't.
Yes but it was no big deal. She was giving advice about I question I posted and only the last line mentioned her services.
I've only received one, and it was like 4 months ago. Someone sent me a link to some website that sells knockoff shoes. I deleted it.
once or twice, usually in correlation to a post I had put up recently (i.e. "which photographer should I pick?" and then a random photog PM'd me.)
Last week I got two from the same person, one was blank though. It didn't make sense really either.
None, thankfully! Probably b/c they realize I'm married and have no reason to give them my business? =]
I have received several since I posted for wanted wedding decor. It's annoying.
I think maybe once in the past i received a totally unsolicited pm? i also saw someone who was clearly a vendor mention some info to someone else and asked her to pm me... and she then offered her services. i didn't mind at all because it was relevant to what i had asked her it wasn't just a mass spammy thing.
Just got another one, this time promoting their etsy store. No posts on the board though.
I have! Super annoying. I've been contacted by officiants or 'ceremony planners' and by calligraphers and most recently a make-up artist. I never respond.
yes, a handful of times after I posted about finding a photographer in my price range
I have in the past. I just report them to the "Support" section, and a hostess or Mr. Bee always takes care of them for me. :)
I haven't, but I also haven't ever put a posted that I was looking for a vendor.
I have - mostly photographers. I guess that would make sense because I posted a lot about looking for one. But I will admit the whole - I'll shoot your wedding for free, I'll travel anywhere you just have to pay for the travel expenses - is super shady to me. I usually just ignore them. They are annoying though.
I've received them occasionally but it's not that often and I just ignore them
I've gotten a few in the past, but they were always related to posts that I had written--again mostly about photographer frustrations. It didn't bother me & I actually found it very helpful at the time because I was really stressed out and it was nice to get the info from other people without having to continually scour websites.
I don't think I've ever gotten anything totally out of the blue.
No, all PMs have been directly in response to things I've posted or responded to in the Classifieds.
I did once, it was weird too, I had responded to someone else's post about making their own veil. The sender offered to make my veil for me, but I had already made my own veil and had stated that in my post, lol. This was a few months ago and I never responded. Haven't had anything since.
Yes, I think I have been contacted by a vendor. They sent me a PM stating that they noticed that I brought a certain dress and was wondering if I would be willing to sell it after my wedding. I didn't realize they were a vendor until I looked at their profile and noticed that they had a lot of listings under classifieds (one of them was the same dress they were asking me about selling).
Whenever I post a photography question, I get a couple PMs from photographers. ("I have a solution to your photog issue - hire me!")
