That dress is totally not a mermaid style! In fact it looks like quite a traditional style wedding dress to me! It’s got an A-line skirt! Guys don’t understand style, anyways, and I’m sure he’ll love it on you. Besides, I’m curious to see what his opinion of what he’d prefer, dress-wise.

yeah definately NOT a mermaid dress????? and either way – guys barely recognize dresses as it is, he will be too busy looking at your face and how happy you are.

what counts is that you are comfortable in your dress and its waht you want – because that will shine thru in what you wear.

you could wear a burlap sack and if you were happy in it you would look STUNNING because its you that makes the dress not the other way around.

good luck and i think the dress looks great πŸ™‚

Honestly, I don’t see how anyone could really not like either of those dresses. they are both very pretty and bridal. I’m sure it will be different when you are wearing it than how it looked on the girl on TV. I honestly don’t know if my finace will like my dress (I kinda think I might have chosen one with characteristics he told me he didn’t like as we were flipping through magazines…) but I’m not worried about it. It’s about the whole package- not just the dress. I like it, my mom likes it, and my sisters like it, so I’m happy. When I’m walking down the aisle, he wont really care what my dress looks like.

I love the adelaide!  However, I think the adelaide is different from yours (the one from DB).  In the end it will not matter because it will be you in the dress.  Look at all the model pictures and how everyone hates the dress until it is a real bride wearing it!

Hmmm definitely doesn’t make me think “mermaid,” maybe the first one a little with the “sparkle top” like you were saying, but I don’t get that with your actual dress! It is a very classic cut and silhouette. I wouldn’t worry about what he said…boys don’t know fashion at all, and you will look completely different in your dress than the woman who was on TV! On your wedding day, he isn’t going to see you and think “wow, that dress looks so similar to this girl’s dress that was on that TV show that one time…” πŸ™‚

I think the top one’s bust is super different than the bottom one! Plus, Mr.D wasn’t that wild about the type of dress I chose (when we looked at magazine he picked ballgowns) but loved my dress!

I saw the previews for that episode and remember thinking how much I liked that beaded top!  I wouldn’t worry about it.  Honestly, it’s going to be YOU in that dress, not some random person on TV.  He’s just going to see you!  Nothing ever looks as good on TV as it does in person anyways.

My FI hates pickups.  He was looking at pictures with me one night (after I had already purchased my dress) and made the comment that he didn’t like all of the bunching on this one dress in the picture.  My dress has pickups, but not a ton.  I was kinda quiet when he said that, and he immediately was like “Wait, your dress doesn’t look like that does it?  If it does, I’m sure it’ll look great on you, I just don’t like it in this picture… blah blah”

Point being, your FI was probably just making conversation.  You’ll look great and he’ll be thrilled!  Try not to worry too much πŸ™‚

I think its a totally different reaction when its YOU in a dress.  He’s looking at some other women, one he doesn’t know, one who’s body type is probably different and its on TV.  When its you walking down the aisle and you’re make up/hair is done he’ll die.  I strongly believe that.  I would try to move past this, he’ll love how you look!

is the first one the one that was on the tv show? I can see where a guy might see the way the bust pulls up on the sides as kind of putting the bust on display (which is kind of the point, isn’t it?); also, I’d say your dress is WAY less sparkly (or sparkly in a better way) than the first one.

Man, weddings are so stressful. I bet your FI didn’t mean a thing by it though – he was just mumbling whatever came into his mind first, and if you’d never said a thing, he would’ve forgotten it completely by the time the wedding came around. Guys don’t focus on details about weddings like we do. πŸ™‚

Of this I am completely assured: You are going to look gorgeous in YOUR dress on your wedding day. Your fiance is going to think you are the most beautiful creature to ever walk the earth.

I don’t mean to downplay your feelings now, but I think this is just a huge, classic case of open mouth, insert foot. I bet after the wedding you’ll be laughing about this. πŸ™‚

I love that dress! I’m sure when he sees you walk down the aisle in it, he’ll think you’re beautiful! He’s with you, so he obviously loves your sense of style, so why wouldn’t he like this on you?!

Don’t get too bummed about it, I know it’s upsetting but that dress is SO freakin pretty! You’ll be able to rock that dress!!

I agree with “Lees”!  He is with you…he loves your since of style, he likes your taste in things, he trusts you, or he wouldn’t be marrying you!  Don’t stress it…and don’t let it make you have less confidence about how beautiful you will be in your dress.  Go  for it.  Both of those dresses are absolutely breathtaking.  He’s going to be so overwhelmed with how beautiful you are, and so caught up in the moment, the last thing that he’s going to be worried about is the beads at the top of your dress.

Go for it, girl!  You’ve made a fabulous decision with your dress choice!
