Hi everyone,
My whole life I've had a mini-complex about my height. My mom says that for four generations back in her family, the oldest daughter has been 1/2 inch taller than her mother. My mother is 5'4.5", and yet somehow I am only 5'2". I wanted to do a brief poll and see if there's a trend on this board. I can't think of a single female friend I know who is shorter than her mother--most seem to be the same height or taller.
My Mom is about 5'7 and I am 5'10. It's totally my Dad's fault though, he's super tall. :) I would be shocked if my kids WEREN'T taller than me though, because FI is 6'4. We'll have giant amazon kids one day. :)
I'm right in between my two parent's height (a little closer to my mom's height). My dad is 6' and my mom is 5'1, I am 5'5.
My mom and I are both 5'2". I have a feeling I would have been a little taller (my dad is about 5'10"), but I had the bad sense to be a vegan caffeine addict for most of my teenage years.
I'm a bit taller, but that's probably just old age kicking in for her. :P My dad's also pretty tall, so that could make the difference.
I'm way shorter! I'm, on a good day, 5'2 and my mom is 5'7. I'm a good five inches+ shorter than everyone in my family actually. I think I'm secretly adopted. :(
I'm about 1-2 inches taller that my mother, but my sister is a couple inches shorter that her, so who knows.
FH is 6'3 and my daughter gets her height from him. I'm pretty sure she's going to dwarf me by the time she's 10.
I am waaaaaay taller than my mom. But my dad's a giant, and my mom is teeny so maybe that's why!
@ohheavenlyday: On a good day, that's funny! I'm going to use that line now, because I'm really closer to 4'11 than 5'0.
@ohheavenlyday: Haha, aw, yeah maybe. I don't think I'll ever be "dwarfed" because I'm sort of a giant myself at 5'10. My brother's girlfriend's parents are the same height(s) as myself and FI and their kids are all at LEAST 6'0. Girls included.
Both my sister and I are 3-4 inches taller than my mom!
All of my siblings, including me, are taller than both my parents.
I'm taller than my mom but not by much (maybe an inch or two). I swear I haven't grown in years yet she keeps getting shorter.
I am shorter and way rounder then my mom! She is about 5'5 and a size 2-4 and I am 5'0 and a size 10-12. As a teenager I found this 100% unfair and a curse but now I love that I have boobs and booty. It is also funny because she is barely a B cup and I am a DD/DDD. Genetics are a crazy thing!
I'm shorter. My mom was 5'1" and I'm 4' 10", my daughter is 5'3 ish. My father's mother was 4' 11"-and one of her sons (not my dad) was 6'4" I think. Much taller than my 6'0" husband.
I'm shorter. My mom is 5'3" and I'm 5'0", her mother was 4'11" when she passed away but she had a severe dowager's hump so she was probably over 5' when she was younger.
My mom is about 3/4 of an inch taller than me. I'm 5'7.5, she's just over 5'8. I'm still the tallest of my sisters though!

On the flip side my older sister is 5'0" *shrugs* genetics!
Me and my mom are about the same height...we are about 5 foot or a little shorter..we are fun size :)
My siblings and I are all taller than our mum, she's 5'1 and I'm 5'6. Our dad is over 6'0 so that's where we got it from.
One of my bestfriends is shorter than both her mother and grandmother though
I am the shortest person in my immediate family. My mom used to be roughly 5'5" I think. She shrank a bit with age. My sister is 5'6" and somehow I ended up being only 5'3". I have a mini-complex about it too!
I'm shorter than my mom. She is 5'10" and I am 5'7". My dad is 6'3"... I have no idea what happened to me!
My mom thinks she's much taller than me, but we're pretty close to the same height (she's almost 5'9", I'm 5'8"). I'm not sure why, but she seems to think she's a giant. ;)
Still, I'm the shortest in my family, since she's a hair taller than me and my dad is 5'11" and my brothers 6'1" and 6'3". I'm the shrimp!
My Mom is 5'4", and I'm 6'1". However, my older sister is 5'2" :-)
I have my grandmother's on my dad's side body exactly. I'm a bit taller than she was but not much and I think its mostly modern nutrution to make the difference. Long and Lanky here. My mom was shorter and a bit more curvy than I am. My cousin has my mom's body exactly. Funny how that works.
I'm only about half an inch shorter. My mom is 5'5" and I'm 5'4" and half. My grandma is about 5'1".
