Are you using chair covers?  Why or why not?  If you have already been married, was it worth the cost (pictures looked great because of it, it enhanced the look of the room, etc) or was it not really necessary at the end of the day?

We're not using them. Our chairs are just basic white folding chairs and I'm fine with them. I also think chair covers look a little odd. One of the venues we looked at had these horrible ugly-shade-of-green upholstered chairs, and my aversion to both their chairs and chair covers led to us looking for a different venue :)

We aren't using them. We're having a small wedding of 55 people and even with that amount of people, it was already looking like $300. It just seemed like an unnecessary cost and plus, who is going to remember the chairs anyway?

No, we're not using them either. If the budget allows, i may be renting the all-mighty-chiavari-chairs. I'm a sucker i know. Embarassed

If not then we will be using the venue chairs (with no covers)... i can't even remember what color they are.

Thanks everyone.  I never realized that a lot of people don't use chair covers.

Yes, we rented out chair covers only because the chairs were so beat up that they looked like they were created the same time the building was over 100 years ago. I was hoping to not have had to use them as it was an unneeded expense for our wedding. I am glad I did get them because it brought the decor together.

I didn't want to from the start, I don't like the look of them and it's just an extra expense.  My FI on the other hand kept telling me he really really wanted to use them.  I would have considered it if the chairs were ugly, but the chairs are actually really pretty, so at this point it's just an extra expense that we're not going to do.

We are.  Our venues chairs are a deep maroon.  Wouldn't really fit with my table settings.  And I don't think they are too outrageously priced.

We are using them but only because they're included in our wedding package.  Otherwise I think they are a little silly and uncomfortable.  I actually would rather have a plain chair!

we didn't use them. i'm not a fan of chair covers, plus after doing the math it was cheaper to rent white wood chairs which are pretty on their own rather then to rent chairs and chair covers.

We are using them for our outdoor ceremony because the venue has the ugly metal folding chairs, but they provide the covers & have lots of different color sashes we can choose from to match our colors.

I think chair covers transform the overall look of the venue more than anything else...

We are using chair covers. It's the one thing my mom insisted on because we didn't use them for my sisters wedding and she really regreted it. I don't mind either way, but our wedding will be in a tent so the chair covers will make it look a little more elegant. Also, my table linens are ivory and the chairs are white, so it brought the look together.

We are using chair covers as well. The only reason is because the reception hall has hideous dark purple chairs and our colors are deep red and pale gold... yeah... they look awful together!

I love chair covers, but was not going to use them becasue of cost.  A friend of mine told me about a woman who works form her home in my area, and her pricing was incredible, so we did get them!! I love the transformation it makes on the space!!!

We're only using them because they were offered as a extra incentive. We wouldn't have got them if we had to pay for them otherwise.

We're not using them since I don't really like how they look, and our venue includes chiavari chairs, so I don't need to cover them up.

I love chairs covers with sashes, but our venue comes with chivari chairs, so I am only using sashes. I think it would be a shame to cover the chairs up.

If your chairs are nice, I think it would be a waste of money to use covers. If you want a little extra something, I would just use a sash.

We're actually renting chairs instead of renting chair covers.  I am not a huge fan of chair covers and prefer the look of the chairs I am renting.

And I am glad the chairs are pretty ugly.

sometimes chair covers look great and sometimes not. in my opinoin i dont like them at all, but i have seen instances where they look ok, but the majority of the time cheap and tacky. my point is not to hurt anyones feelings; you asked and i am telling you :D hehe

We are not using them, but only because we have chivari chairs. If they were mismatched, or worn down banquet chairs - we would be using them for sure!

To cover the chairs it would have cost me about $900.00... I opted for a photo booth instead.

We are renting Chiavari chairs and I have considered using sashes only because I think they're gorgeous, but I hate the look of synthetic fabrics and would want a silk satin or silk chiffon, and I'm thinking it'd be pretty expensive.  So we are most likely not covering the chairs at all.

I'm using chair covers. I love the look of them. I knew immediately that I wanted them. Like others before me said, they really add umph to the look of the venue. If you shop around you can find good prices on them.

We're not using them simply because I prefer the look of the ugly metal chairs to the look of the chair covers we have available. To me they look really out of place and remind me of how weird the coats on racehorses look pre-race...just bugs me I guess.

We used them.  However, we had an extremely nontraditional wedding venue (a club that was a converted warehouse).  The chairs available were in no way matching--some were folding chairs, some were banquet chairs, some were chairs with arms, etc.

We moved the chairs with arms to an unused room.  We then covered the banquet chairs and the folding chairs with ivory chair covers, and tied gold satin sashes around them.  This helped to tie together the decor.

However, we were willing to do this in large part because we got a really good deal on the chair covers initially.  And on checking prices for used chair covers, we found that we could probably sell the chair covers for as much as we had paid for them.  If they had been a big cost item, we wouldn't have done them.

chair covers is something i think looks so elegant at weddings, but the price of them is not appealing. so i am giving up my vision of them. i would rather not have them then have to give up other things that are more important.

I'm not a huge fan of chair covers if we can avoid them, and our venue is getting an overhaul right about now. The chairs are one of the things on the list that they are replacing, so I don't think we'll need to cover the new ones.

Our hall originally had really ugly folding chairs so I wanted chair covers and when our budget wouldn't cut it my FMIL stepped in and insisted that we get chair covers on her. Now our hall has banquet chairs but they are brown and we were getting chair covers anyway and the cost didn't change, so we go with chair covers!

We're not using them. We'll be renting basic white folding folding wooden chairs. I think they look fine by themselves.

I don't really like the look of chair covers. I do like sashes, but they don't really fit the feeling I'm going for (or my budget), so I'm not using those either.

We aren't doing chair covers, but we are tying sashes around the back of the chair.

Now just the decision of the material...organza or satin

Yep. We are having whit chair covers with fuschia organza sashes. The only reasons I am bothering is:

    1) The chairs that the yacht club have look kinda like this:

    2) My mother would die of a heart attack if I didn't get covers to cover those chairs.

We're not doing chair covers and our chairs are super ugly - metal folding with padding. However, I think they would look worse with ivory chair covers so the only improvement would be to rent chairs and I don't want to pay for chairs when we already have functional chairs that come with our venue.

So I got the price quote for the chair covers, and it was $5.75 per chair plus $100 set up fee plus tax.  I'm getting married in the middle-no-where Ohio and I that price is ridiculous (at least for the area).  We would be spending more on the chair covers than the cake and DJ combined.  So we will be skipping them :-)  The chairs have dark blue backs and seats (like the cushion-y kind) and it doesn't go with or black and ivory colors, but right now I don't care.  I would rather spend the money on nicer amenities for the honeymoon!

We did however have our room moved (upgraded)to one with windows along the wall.  The set up will be different than shown, but I'm happy that there are now windows!  (There weren't any before.)

Mine are included with our wedding package, my function does work conferences and weddings, so the chairs are padded and comfortable but oh so ugly!

I like the way it looks when they're decorated, because you can use any chair. I do love wooden chairs, if I had a 20 person wedding i'd just have antique wooden chairs (my dad has some) with ribbon or flowers on the back.

I'm using chair covers.  The ballroom chairs at our hall are sort of a grey-ish blue, and they just stick out like a sore thumb with nice linens on the table.  It's going to cost us about 600 dollars to get them!  Crazy I know, but the room looks totally different with chair covers~
