I'm a regular-ish poster, but didn't want to post under my regular user name...

Are you vocal while you and SO are intimate? I know movies always depict people having loud orgasms and stuff, but I'm generally a quiet person by nature and it's the same while in bed. SO knows how to make me O, but I'm never yelling anything, nor have the urge to. I get breath-y maybe so I'm not like totally silent (I think, idk), but SO has mentioned it one or two times that I'm quiet (but so is he). We're both the only people we've ever been with, and I don't really have friends I would be comfortable asking, so I'm not really sure what is the "norm." Being loud just seems like it would be awkward to me...

Considering this is a kind of personal post, I've made a poll with as many things as I could think of so you don't have to actually post. Answer according to what's most average for you.

    I am loud!

I always had trouble keeping it down when I lived with roommates and so now that we have our own place I just let it all out so to speak LOL!

But I am a loud person socially also - I have always been told I don't have an inside voice! LOL

You wanna know something funny - - I am actually thinking about this answer....Truth be told it totally depends whats happening where we are and how much we're both into it. Sometimes we're both exhausted but need some action and in that case we're a bit quieter. Sometimes we've had hard work days and need to get out our aggression....OMG I think I am getting a little bit carried away with TMI....We have a townhouse - for the most part we're cautious of our noise levels, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHHA Laughing

I'm really loud and outgoing in everyday life but in the bedroom I stick mostly to moans and such, haha.

If I'm being vocal it is a pretty good sign that I'm faking it that night :p

@MrsGax2B: my old roomie's boyfriend was very vocal. it was awkward :p (seeing as her room shared a wall with the living room and they didn't care what time of day it was).

I'm in the "it depends" catagory; I tend to be louder during drunk sex. Other than that, mostly breathy.Innocent

I answered "Yes, because it's what I think I'm supposed to do" but "Yes, because my husband likes it" would be more accurate.  I'm not naturally loud although alcohol sometimes changes that for me too.  :-)

    This is a personal one!

I make noises. Sometimes more than other times. I am not a very loud person normally, so I guess that translate the same in bed. FI and I usually tell each other I love you as well.

My noises are typically centered around letting him know what I like/what he's doing right. I really enjoy doing that because he gets this look of pride on his face that I find to be a wonderful turn-on Smile

It depends on the sex. Sometimes it's the loud, raw, nasty, rough sex and I yell, then sometimes it's the slow, sex therapy type that makes me moan and breath heavy.

    Was that TMI?LOL

OK, so I just voted and have nothing to say on the topic, but I had to comment that I think the related post -- "nice vocal version of Canon in D" is pretty funny. Not exactly mood music...

I'm not a yeller during sex, but Husband is known to get a little loud. Our duplex shares a wall with an older gentleman and Husband is quite happy when our neighbor is gone (most weekends). :-)

I'm not a yeller during sex either.  I mostly just moan but if the moment strikes then I guess I would yell.  I would probably be a lot louder possibly yelling if I've been drinking a lot but I don't often.

I've always figured I know what it feels like to want feedback, so I may as well give feedback, but sometimes ...

sometimes I wish I had never started being so vocal, because sometimes I have to actually focus on being vocal because if I'm not, he thinks something is wrong, when really I'm just concentrating more on, uh, other things.

    *sigh*

That's an interesting point daydream! Sometimes I have a problem with even kissing a bunch once we're out of the foreplay part because I'm concentrating and I can't concentrate on two things at once! I see I'm not quite in the "norm" here (but it doesn't really bother me) I might try to start saying things during the deed, but I'm just so shy and don't know how to break that ice! That and I have a feeling my SO would laugh at me if I tried to be sexy (not exagerating)!

we are not really loud...if you were really trying to listen from the living room you might hear some moans and groans...but not excessively so...and as some have said alcohol changes that and I can get pretty loud when Ive had a few. Like this weekend and it was my birthday and there were people in the next room...LOL.

funny story, after the 3rd or 4th time, FI's face = :O because of my noise level. (the first few times were at his apt, and he had a roommate at the time)... the said time was when i was living at my parent's condo post-college, while they were at work... LOL

Funny you should put this up. I was wondering the same thing. Are people really that vocal???? I remember the first time I saw a movie that had a sex scene and it cut a way and you could here the female actor and i was thinking "What's all the fuss about?" To answer your question sometimes. Yelling not so much. But I do speak his name occassionally tell him what I want and talk dirty. I have gotten pretty vocal a few times. Though I gotta say I have no idea when I got that loud and I was just thankful that almost all of those times we were in the house alone. Once however I got pretty vocal and realized his grandma had just came back to the house. (very embarrassing but she's the only one in either of our families that know that we have a sexual relationship, though after 4yrs I think most people assume it)

I don't tend to form words, but I go gasp and moan a lot! I leave the words to my SO, who can be very talkative when he feels like it. I can't repeat here ANY of what he says to me!

Ha Ha funny question. I've always been vocal, and I'm a rather loud, talkative person normally. What's funny though is my SO never made any noise when we first started sleeping together - now he can be rather vocal also. We can both be quiet if necessary - although it can be hard for me.

this is such an interesting question.... i have definitely been much more vocal with former partners than i am with FH. i'm not quite sure why i never have been with FH - it's not that our sex life is that bad that i'm not moved to screaming my head off and saying naughty things... it just never felt right. i guess because we've been in a real relationship and in the past i've just had more casual relationships so i felt less inhibitied? i've always thought about just "letting it out" these days but i'm kinda afraid it will be a bit embarrassing... you would think after being with someone for 4+ years, you wouldn't be afraid of being embarrassed. FH isn't very vocal and when he is, it's not always audible. oh well!
