Just curious how politically active the 'hive is :)

I am annoyed at myself for not getting it together to vote early so now I have to go wait in line at the polls... boo.

I read up on the canidates in my region last night so that I could make an informed decision at the crack-of-dawn today! I hit the polls right at 6:20, and was out of there by 6:30! Went home, did my workout and got to work by 8! I'm crashing already! YAWN!

I never miss an election.  I was raised to believe that if you don't vote, you don't have the right to complain about the way our government is working, and well, I like to complain LOL!

I live in a pretty small town so there is never a line.  I will go when I get off of work.

@7SEVENJ9: wow I am impressed! I did that for the Obama election because I could walk to the voting place and I had a busy work day, but today I plan to go mid-morning like 10am and hope I catch a lull between the pre-work and lunch time voters :)

I sent my absentee ballot last week and I'm PRAYING it makes it on time!  I hate to miss an election even if I'm 3000 miles away!

In my state (WA), only one county out of 39 allow citizens to go to the polling stations to vote. Everyone else must vote through absentee ballots. I filled out my selections this weekend and put the ballot in the mail yesterday. (BTW: Anyone else think it's odd that the Post Office requires you to put a stamp on a government issued document? I only realized that yesterday and was caught off gaurd.)

I'm a social studies teacher and encouraged my students (who could) to vote this year. I'd be hypocritical if I didn't :)

FI and I will be voting later on when he gets off work. I could just go without him right now if I wanted too, but I don't haha. We will probably be stuck in line though because everyone is going to be getting off of work, haha.

Yes, although I have a conspiracy theory that the Dems intentionally tried to keep me from it because I never received any of the info I usually do about where to vote, etc.

I also feel bad because I'm one of only 2 republicans on the UWS (the other being DH) and the candidates are always standing outside of my subway stop around election times and zero right in on me for a hand shake. I'm too polite to let them know they are wasting their time. I do appreciate the effort though! :)

@Purquez2011: hmmm that is odd. Particularly because it is the ONLY way to vote. If you have a choice of absentee or in person I can see making you pay the 0.44 for the convenience of not going in, but if you're forced to vote absentee and must do so through the mail, it kind of seems illegal. I know 0.44 isn't that much but it still seems like paying to vote. The lawyer in me is itching to look into this further..... lol

I voted before I got to work this morning.

I'm with the PP that said if you don't vote, you can't complain! :) Even though some rude old bat running the polls asked me if this was my first time voting (it's my 4th time) because I look so young. I'm 22. :(

Due to many, many issues involved in living in one state and claiming residency in another I am not in fact allowed to vote in either state.  This irks me but until I'm done with school, that's the way it's gonna be.

@CorgiTales: I know!! Like I said in my PP, only one country allows the people of that county to choose between going to the polls and sending in a ballot. Every other (like mine) requires a ballot and it clearly says on the envelope that you must place a first class stamp on envelope or your vote will not be counted! It ticked me off, honestly. 0.44 cents isn't a lot to me, no, but add that up with everyone who votes through ballots and someone is making bank! LOL. But there's WA state for you! Something's always f*cked up! :P

One more thing....if you forgot to mail in your absentee ballot, you can always walk it in to a polling place!

I hope those bees who can vote do so!

No - I live in the Washington DC and we have no Congressional representation and as lame as it sounds, I don't think the City Council does anything.  The Mayor's been chosen, so I really don't care.

However, politics is my job so I'll be up weee into the morn, me thinks.

ETA: Living in the District is the first time in my life I never voted - including every single small race.  I feel terrible about it, but until DC has a voice, I don't see the point.

I'm dying to vote, but I'm not a legal MN resident yet! I just moved a couple months ago from NYC and should have gotten an absentee ballot, but forgot in all the hubbub of life and moving, not to mention moving in with BF! I wanted to retain my NYC license until I got my deposit back from my old landlord, which should be happening soon, fingers crossed.

I'm bummed that I can't, but excited to watch the results come in tonight. BF will go nuts because he hates politics, period. But I can't help it, I have to know what happens!

@ModernDaisy - if you're a republican, shouldn't it then follow the "it's your responsibility" to find out where to vote?  Usually no one tells you where to vote as it's more often than not on your voter registration card/with the info you receive when you receive your voter registration card.  There is also a whole host of info on many web sites on where your polls are, and if you go to any poll, they can tell you where to go.

The party - no matter what party - isn't responsible for telling citizens where to vote.  I've lived in largely republican areas most of my life (they only recently flipped and I wasn't living there) and no one ever told me where to vote.  I never thought to blame the republicans.  Maybe I should have!

Having worked at polling stations (and my mom still does, every year...twice a year), not all are b!tchy!  That said - many, many voters are SO rude.  Why?  You don't have to agree with the party I'm working for, but this is America, we can all have our opinions (even if yours is wrong!) so no need to yell at poll workers for being involved.  I sometimes worry for my mom out there to be honest.

I've voted in every election since I turned 18 and I will in this one. I was also taught that if you don't vote, you shouldn't complain.

That being said, I am so sick of politics and tempted not to.

I voted before work this morning.  I just beat the "during commute" rush at my polling station and was the 24 person to vote their this morning.  This is the first time I've actually gone to the polls.  I've always had to vote absentee before.

@CorgiTales: You beat me to it.  I was intending to make a post just like this but figured I make sure no one else did before making mine!

I will vote, even though I live in DC and thus can’t vote for any national offices (and all of the local offices were pretty much decided in the primary). It makes me very sad whenever I hear of someone not voting for national offices who can, because I am not able to!

@jindc: I was 100% joking, but yes I normally receive a letter in the mail telling me where to vote every election. I live in NYC and I think because space is super limited, it keeps getting changed - I've never voted in the same place twice. I've never heard of that republican mantra, I don't think it makes a difference if someone is republican or democrat, everyone is responsible for getting out and voting!

Im not voting but its not because I only vote in presidential elections or I dont vote - its just that I am not familiar with the candidates in this race and dont like to vote when I am uninformed. Its my own fault because I havent taken the time to become knowledgeable about them, but oh well.

I voted on my way to work.  I hope to never miss an election--primaries included!

EDIT--I'd like to add that you can find your polling place by contacting your local registrar of voters (most have websites by now) or by clicking this link, to Google's application.

Not voting this time and it's totally my fault.  :-(  Like a couple other bees I recently moved to a different state but don't want to give up my residency yet and getting an absentee ballot wasn't anywhere on my radar.  Looks like no complaining about the government for me this year!  ;-)

I voted at 7:30am.  I like in a pretty big city but there was NO line.  I walked right up and was done in less than 5 minutes.  Plenty of parking and I was early for work!

Granted I didn't pay much attention to any campaigns... DVR = no political ads! hey. but I just across the party voted. there ya go.
