somehow, i feel like things i would never consider to be on the radar start to blip as i close my eyes to sleep.  this is the case with the garter.  there are about a thousand different ones i saw today and they are all very cute.  however, we are not doing the garter toss and it's not something i would normally wear.  so after spending a lot of time (you can imagine) on etsy, i thought to myself, 'is this really necessary'?  maybe i'm just weary of all of the little ways i am leaking money for the wedding.  maybe i've lost perspective.  or maybe i just need sleep.  are you wearing a garter? : wedding accessories Icon Confused

is this something you consider to be an important part of your big day?

Like you I considered wearing a garter, but in the end decided not to wear one.  I didnt miss it the day of, and I'm glad I didn't buy one.

Well, if you aren't doing a garter toss, then there probably isn't a point to wearing one.  I did have a garter toss, so I wore two of them.  I bought them from The GarterMaker and I chose the two garter option so I could have a nice one as a keepsake and one to toss.  The nice one also served as a something blue:

I'm wearing one. I made one myself. It's not super fancy or anything but it came out to $2 for each. Yes, one's a "keepsake" but mostly it was a practice. I feel like I need one, no matter what! Sometimes i'm hell bent on traditions

I won't be doing a toss but I still will wear one. It is mostly for my groom-to-be anyway. I will probably get a laugh out of him for it but he will love it!

I actually just started looking for garters yesterday on Etsy.  I wasn't sure if my fiance would want to do the garter toss, though.  I just asked and he said, "If I'm going to be crawling around on the floor blindfolded and sticking my head up your dress, it's going to be for something better than a garter."  Ha!  I guess I won't be wearing one!

We're not doing a garter toss, so all along I hadn't planned to buy one.  Now that I'm thinking about it though, it still might be sexy for the Mr. and some pictures.  Dang, put something back on the list...

We're not doing a garter toss, but my Bridesmaids gave me a University of Michigan garter to wear as my something blue.  I know my fiance will get a kick out of it, so I'll probably wear it. :)

We aren't doing a garter toss, but I bought one anyways. I bought it to be my "something blue" but I might have another something blue...

I am still undecided if I will wear it or not... but at least I have it if I want to wear it.

    Good luck.

We're doing a garter toss. I have two. A keepsake and a throw-away. I got mine off Ebay. It's my 'something blue', and camo/deer for FI. He thought it was "awesome". I thought it was kinda cute, and different. This is the only piece camo that I'm wearing.

@MSHyman Garters were initially made to help keep stockings (the thigh highs) up so you wouldn't be constantly tugging them up! At least I believe that to be the case, I could be wrong. Now they are just for decorative purposes basically :p

I'm wearing a garter with fabric memorializing our alma mater. I think it is a fun little touch, and I was looking for a way to involve our love for our college. However, I would definitely not consider the garter a very important part of our wedding. It was very low on my priority list. I probably would not have even bought one yet, had I not run across this one.

I ordered mine today from Etsy's GarterLady.

I am so excited for the FH to see it! but of course that won't be until our wedding day. I got a garter for him but now I need to find one similar for a toss, and the garterlady was only selling this as a single.

We aren't doing the toss (it's too cheesey for my taste) but I'm getting one anyway..  Good for pictures, 'something blue', and I wanted an heirloom that I could possibly pass down.  :)

I dont consider it to be the important but we are doing one anyway. I to would normally not wear one but I don't do the majority of the things I will be doing for the wedding.

My F is a huge LA Lakers fan. Our dogs name is Kobe are you wearing a garter? : wedding accessories Icon Biggrin So I will be wearing a LA LAkers Garter.

You can find some cool theme ones on ebay and they are pretty cheap.

We're not doing a traditional garter toss, so we're throwing one but I'm not wearing it.  I haven't even started to look yet.  I can imagine, though, that if you're not wearing one, and not throwing one,  you can probably forgo it all together.

We're not doing a toss, so I'm not buying one.  I don't really see a point fo rme to wear one, and I'm pretty sure it'd actually look bulky under my sheath type dress.

We are also not doing a toss and for a while I considered getting a Packers-themed garter as a surprise for FI but I was torn over whether to spend the money or not.  In the end I decided against it mostly because my dress is a slimmer sheath style and I was afraid the garter would look bulky underneath.  Of course this could have just been an excuse I gave myself when in reality I just didn't want to spend the money on it.
