I wear various colors of lace ALL the time as I love it so much. It can be very elegant or very sexy or both. For white/ivory lace, I actually prefer it on darker skin because of the contrast. If you’re considering it, I’d be glad to share some pics via PM.

My wedding was on July 5th and I did wear lace.  I don’t think I looked like I was wearing my Grandmother’s gown.  Just because a dres is lace doesn’t mean it’s not current.  I would suggest wearing a dress that flatters your body type the most.  It doesn’t matter what you thought you’d wear.  When you see your wedding pics and the dress your wearing isn’t showcasing your best features, you may not be happy.  I don’t know how many brides here have said I always thought I’d wear, ____ dress.  But in the end they went with something different because that dress was more flattering.  I think anyone can wear lace.  The most important thing is the shade of the lace.  I have very pale skin so I couldn’t do white.  I went with champange for my dress.  Everyone said it was a great colour on me.  Being dark skinned I but you’d look great in white or ivory.

I LOVE lace. My wedding dress is all lace. I never thought lace dresses looked good and was not in my vision for a wedding. That is until I tried a lace one on. I cried!!! I was so inlove. You should go to the store and try a few lace dresses on and see how you like it. Any dress looks good on any skin type I think. Hope this helps!! 🙂

I really love the second dress, especially the low back. I’m not sold on the tulle skirt though. I feel it’s not pulling off the ball gown look very well( if that’s what it is supposed to look like) Any chance u could get 2 dresses instead?

I’ve seen some really pretty gasp worthy ball gowns so I’m sure u can find something, u may still be able to get a detachable skirt by other designers. I’ll see if I can find any.

LadyH:  Definitely the second dress. The skirt of the mermaid dress has some sass to it.

Both of those dresses are gorgeous, but I think the 2nd one will look better.  Anyway, I too am considering lace (haven’t gone dress shopping yet), and I never thought of how it might look on my brown skin. I think as long as you find a color that compliments your skin tone, you can have a dress in whatever fabric you like most.
