I lived in Argentina for about 5 years, I would totally recommend going south, Bariloche is a REALLY cute town along with Bahia Blanca and great for all sporty adventures, Buenos Aires is a great city with a lot of historical places, the MUST DO there are the "grill" places, the "Bife chorizo" is AMAZING! you def have to try it if you like meat. I never heard about Calafate closing on April, and for what I know the strong tourist season is from December to March-April (our summer) if you need more ifo I'll be happy to help ;)

Hi - Has anyone spent anytime in Argentina? My fiance and I are planning on going there at the end of April for about 12-13 days. Do you have any places/hotels/activities you would recommend? We would like nice/upscale/botique hotels (to relax) and would like to do some adventurous activities (maybe rafting or something). We are considering Iguazu falls, Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Mendoza and possibly El Calafate (but apparently it shuts down mid April?). If you have any thoughts, I would really appreciate them.
Thanks in advance for the help!
