    So, last night FI got a migraine.  They're a pretty common occurance (he's got a brain injury from combat) and took 3 vicotin to take the edge off.  He's still sleeping.

    Anyway, Since he was supposed to cook today, I decided to surprise him when he wakes up with our Thanksgiving meal done, or in progress, so he doesn't have to do it.  Since it's just the two of us I got cornish hens, cause he apparently really likes them.  I've never had them.

    Now I'm no experienced cook.  I can make pasta and a mean fried chicken, and that's about it.  I'm trying to find a recipe for these cornish hens, and so far, no luck.  FI said all we'd need was butter or oil, so I didn't look up a recipe, and now that I am, I don't have half of the ingredients to make these!  Going to the store is out because we don't have a car, the buses aren't running, and the store is probably closed anyway.

    Urrrrrrrrrrrgh here's to hoping it goes well.

    @Dizzy - Try this one - http://allrecipes.com/recipe/cornish-hens-the-easy-way/detail.aspx

    Even if all you have is salt, pepper and olive oil (or butter) I bet they'll be awesome.

    Thanks Layla!  It looks like I've got all of that, except the limes.  Hopefully it'll be fine without them!  I didn't even know that website existed!  I'm joining right now

    I'll let you know how they turn out

    I've never made Cornish hens before, but I know chicken in general tastes super good with just some butter, salt, and pepper :) I'm sure it will be good!

    Alton Brown has some good instructions on how to process and season them. Don't worry about the other steps/ingredients. I agree that  butter, salt and pepper would be great!

    @ Dizzy - allrecipes is an amazing site, I use it almost exclusively for online recipe searches. You can read reviews too, so you know a dish is good. Good luck with the cornish hens!
