One of my bridesmaids is Japanese, and when she comes to the wedding, it will be her first time ever to leave Japan. I’m SO excited to see her again and to be able to show her what it’s like on this side of the Pacific.
One of the things she would really like to do is go see a rodeo. I guess it’s the thing to do if you visit Dallas. Anyway, I just discovered that January 13, 2012 is the beginning of the biggest rodeo and stock show of the year. It seems perfect, since that’s my wedding weekend, so she’ll be here right in time.
…Except that it looks like all the rodeos are on Friday and Saturday evenings. She’s only going to be here over one weekend, which just so happens to be the wedding weekend. Thus, on Friday night, we’re going to be tied up at the rehearsal dinner, and then Saturday night is the wedding itself.
Someone please help me figure out how I can make this work! This is her once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a rodeo, and I really want her to be able to do it! I need all the ideas I can get.

@GreenEyedMoon:Do you know times for the rodeo on that Friday?
Maybe it starts earlier than your rehearsal and you could go then, or possibly likewise it might go on later than your rehearsal and you could still make it?
Do you have decorating or anything else to do on that Friday?
Our day was more hectic than I imagined. Actually that whole week was…
This is tough!

Can you have the rehearsal and dinner earlier or later on Friday? Or possibly have it on Thursday?

How long is she staying? Can someone else take her after the wedding?
The Cowboys of Color Rodeo is Monday at 2pm.
Bull Riding is Tuesday night.
Thursday the 19th is the indoor rodeo.

@Mrs.tobe: 7:30. You know, right at the most inconvenient time possible. I’m still not entirely sure what time the actual rehearsal begins (I have a meeting with the church coordinator in a couple of weeks and can find out then). If it starts early enough, I’m definitely cool with her and her family skipping out on dinner so they can go right after the rehearsal is finished, but I don’t know that that’s possible. She also says she would much rather go with me.
We probably will have decorating and such.
@galloway111: I’ll talk to the coordinator at the church to try and push the time up, but I don’t know if they can. Thursday won’t work because too many other members of the bridal party are coming in from out of town and can’t miss an extra day of work/school.

@julies1949: Thank you for the tips! I think we must be looking at the same calendar. She was originally talking about leaving the day after the wedding, but they might end up staying another couple of days so they can go to the rodeo. Not quite sure yet.
