I think I found the perfect venue! It’s a loft-like building set in beautiful garden courtyards. It’s the perfect mix between rustic and urban. It’s a little hike outside our beloved Windy City, but for the cost and ambiance – it’s definitely worth it.
We’re allowed to bring our own caterer, which hopefully means we’ll be saving some major cash. We were considering doing an Italian themed wedding. We’re thinking of something like this:
Catching the overall feel? 🙂 Any idea of an inexpensive caterer who could pull this off?

@sarahdearest: Not sure if you’re still searching for artisan pizza, but Union Pizza (Evanston) has the kind of feel you are looking for. They do catering, although I’ve only ever eaten in the restaurant. It is one of my all time favorite restaurants, so I highly recommend the food! Good luck!

Did you check out Coalfire Pizza in West Town? (Chicago & Ogden area)

@sarahdearest: Which venue did you choose? I love the rustic look!

I was absolutely in LOVE with a venue in Sycamore, IL called Blumen Gardens – which totally goes with this look! But I ended up ultimately siging with The Danada House in Wheaton. I love my end choice, but it’s not the original old-world rustic feel I was going for.

I don’t know if I’d go with an outside pizza vendor. Pizza usually requires special ovens, and if the venue doesn’t have them, that means they are bringing pizzas from outside. It might get cold, and it will never be as good as in the restaurant.
Not sure which direction from the city your wedding is, but Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza in Arlington heights is delicious thin coal oven pizzas. Again though, not sure if something like that is transportable.

There is a wood fired pizza truck in my area of Northwest Indiana that does catering – not far from Chicago so I bet they would travel, so you might want to check them out if you are still searching! http://www.rollingstonebaker.com/
