I can’t really comment because I’ve never had kids, but I hope he apologizes!

Oh dear! I don’t have children yet but sometimes we say some pretty dumb stuff to each other!

Uh, we don’t fight like that and it disturbs me that someone would even say something that harsh to someone and not mean it.  That’s so not ok.

oh yeah we always throw out the big guns at inappropriate moments, and it usually lightens the tension in a halfhearted fight…i always say to my fiance “i’m going to stay with my boyfriend tonight!!” and he says “I’m gonna pawn your ring and buy myself a mtorcycle while you’re sleeping!”

Whoah, was he actually mad when he said that?? Or was it like a totally joking thing? Either way, I’m not so sure I could ever be cool with FI throwing around the “D” word… yikes.

@Miss Sapphire: FI and I fight very fair and cleanly, too, but I’ve watched several couples who say kinda silly/stupid things to each other, and they do just fine. It’s just a different way of arguing and it is kind of strange until you see it in action.

I guess I still don’t understand. If he can get that riled up over something like that, to me that doesn’t sound “silly,” it sounds more like he has anger management issues. :/ I really don’t mean to offend, but I just don’t see behavior like that as being healthy at all.

@littlemissmango: Some couples just fight differently. It wouldn’t work for everyone, but obviously for OP it does. For us, too.

If I bring up the wedding and he doesn’t want to talk about it, he will share one of his proposal ideas…. He starts out all romantic, like a walk on the pier at sunset and he gets on one knee and says say you’ll marry me or jump. Or in a hot air balloon and say yes or leave now. Makes me laugh. So random!
