Minimalist:  Interesting. It would be hard for me to justify a $40,000 stone based on those pics.

I debated between Asha and CZ for a while. It’ll just be a temporary stone for me until we get a diamond or a sapphire (durability/hardness is the main reason) and that isn’t high on my priority list right now.

I got a CZ from WinkCZ and can I say it blows Asha out of the water. I’ve seen an Asha IRL and compared to the Wink stone it honestly doesn’t hold a candle to it. I’ve had it for 6 months and wear it daily and hardly ever clean my ring and it hasn’t clouded or looked dull once.

That stone was $75 with heat treatment compared to the ~$200 I’d spend on an Asha. Not trying to bash the stone or anything; it’s just that I’ve heard more bad than good about the stone.

It’s kinda funny, but based on that picture I’d go for the Asha over the other two.  I had an Asha, but now I have my forever stone, an Amora Gem Ultra H&A cut cushion.  To me the AG is much better diamond sim, but I loved my Asha and still wear it in a necklace.

To me the Asha wa a great temp solution.  I take care of my jewelry (wash it constantly since germs are yuck) and it was super lively compared to high quality CZ.  I think each of us have to decide for us what is the best stone for us if we are going with a sim or an alternative stone.  Like a popular poster on the ring boards said that any high quality sim will fool 90% of the people all the time.

BTW, I’m really sorry for your engagement falling apart.  Sometimes the engagement itself brings out the worst in people.  Which if it is their true self, look at this as a blessing.  I hope you can move forward and keep your head up.

There is no comparison in those pics. I would choose the diamond every time.

I am not a fan of Asha, having owned some previously. As for the CZ it just looks so flat in your photo.

akirasan:  That stone looks amazing. I have heard great things about Wink CZ 🙂

akirasan:  I love your ring !

Minimalist:  im sorry about whats going on , your right to not have stress of a 40k ring . Way to much , I have a hard time thinking anything above 300 is to much , but then again I love preown jewelry and love saving money.

That’s why people insure their engagement rings. That’s just silly to buy a CZ you don’t even like to wear instead.

akirasan:  Your ring is one of my favorites! I would have never guessed that it was a CZ, but I have also heard that WinkCZ is the best when it comes to a CZ.

WowGamerBabe:  It is indeed! I figure I’m too young to drop a ton of money on a diamond + setting so FI and I just did the setting for now as I don’t plan to upgrade it anymore and then get the stone down the road when there aren’t student loan payments looming over our heads lol.

I took a chance with Wink since I really didn’t know anything about CZ and he was great! Spoke to him directly and he offered me a super cheap shipping rate since the original shipping cost was something like $50 to Canada which I found ridiculous. And it still came really fast too!

Minimalist:  I bought DH a watch for like $600 for his birthday this year, not nearly the cost of your ering but more than we usually spend on gifts.  If he’d bought himself a cheap watch to wear instead because he felt the watch I’d bought was too expensive it would totally break my heart, I went to 3 jewelry stores and did a ton of internet research before I picked the watch and I was proud to give it to him.  I only say this because your ring is gorgeous, and it sounds like your FI put a lot of time, effort, and money into buying it for you.  Could some of the stress in your relationship be related to this ring?  That would almost be a blessing, things like that are so easily fixed with good communication.  And if that has nothing to do with it I’m so sorry for probing (I’m a counselor by trade I can’t help it!) and I wish you the best of luck!!

Minimalist:  Very interesting comparison, thank you. I am really hoping that 40k is an appraisal value and not what you paid. A 2ct F color IF clarity with all excellent cut, symmetry, polish is apx 30k. I say wear the ring and have it insured.

I would just make sure it is insured. He spent 40k on your ring and you’re not even wearing it? My advice? get something less expesnive or just keep your asha and get the money back for your ring. that is a lot of money to have sitting in a box.

Thanks for posting the interesting comparison. I hear you about the anxiety of wearing an expensive piece of jewelry, but couldn’t you get it insured like the other posters say? It’s a shame to leave your original ring in a box because it’s so expensive. Have you considered insurance or selling it and getting something that’s priced at a level you’re more comfortable with?
