Right now I'm using bare minerals, but it doesn't seem to cover very well. The only thing it has going for it is that they have a good yellow undertone to the Golden Medium shade.
What brand of foundation do you use? I'm having a tough time finding a decent covering foundation that comes in anything with a yellowish undertone...Everything I try is way too pink.
i use clinque superfit makeup as a base, then matte it with MAC compac to obsorb the shine.
i'm looking for a good foundation too, they are hard to find
whatever you do, don't buy Lancom's mineral-liquid foundation - it makes your face oily and shiney looking!
I use Cover Girl Aquasmooth in Classic Ivory. You have to blend it well, but it gives a nice finish--it's the same formula used in SKII and very very pricey in Asia!
I don't wear makeup (especially in AZ where I live -- it'll just sweat off), but managed to find one for our wedding day that matches my skin perfectly!! It's Mary Kay, one of the Beiges.
I had my makeup done by a makeup artist so I don't know what color she used but I do know she used Nars foundation
@BrownEyedGurl: Shu Uemura yanked their products from US shelves in July. Now you have to buy from them directly online. It's going to be a pain in the butt to color match now... :-(
I'm not Asian but I know MAC foundation has yellow undertones. I have very pinkish-blue undertones in my skin and MAC gives me a lovely orange glow :p
@babyboo: This! MAC has a great line of foundation and colors that match. The HD high def makeup is heavy but good stuff for photos.
I like the shiseido line of makeup--it's a japanese line so the colors seem to fit me better. They have different levels of coverage--I'm using their stick foundation for my wedding because it has more coverage.
cinema secrets! they have so many shades with different undertones, and a little goes a long way. a little tub lasts me a year and it only costs 13 bucks. doesnt break me out, covers everything, makes my skin look great.
its a "cinema secret" haha.
I like Shiseido as well. But I ended up using Makeup Forever HD foundation for my wedding.
@neeliaush: I Love SKII.....and like you said, it's sooo expensive. Thanks for posting the info. I will have to check it out.
Oooh tons of good suggestions! Looks like I'll be hitting up target to look for the cover girl @neeliaush suggested and looking for sephora to try some of the other suggestions cause my bare minerals finally ran out!
*sigh*
I'm 1/2 Asian, but for some reason my face is really red whereas my neck is yellow (sometimes I wonder if I have rosacea). It's very hard finding a foundation that matches, and I wish I could make my face match the rest of my body, lol. Oh well.
@kate169: i went and got a temptu from sephora... i'm a #5 beige which goes on really well. totally worth every penny for the airbrush system. prior to that i was wearing bourjois's 10 hour sleep foundation - it was super light and went on well with a synthetic brush. on days where I wanted heavier makeup, it was makeup forever mat velvet. hope that helps! :)
I use L'oreal Sun Beige. I just apply it with my fingers and it blends amazingly! Plus, it is super affordable.
l'oreal colorstay for oily/combo skin, in sand beige. i only use it when i want heavy coverage, not a normal basis, but it works beautifully!
was recommended by an asian beauty makeup how-to on youtube :)
I've been using Makeup Forever HD they have a range of colors and for my wedding my makeup artist used NARS.
I used Lorac 4 forevvver. Makeup Forever HD 128/Dark Sand is more recent. Currently, I'm usin a sheer Clinique one I can't remember bc I got it as a gift from my FMIL, which is nice and more sheer than I usually wear. Soft Honey from Cover Girl worked when I was younger and on a budget.
I've been using Chanel Double Perfection for years. Recently I wanted to try liquid foundation so now I'm using Clinique "even better" liquid foundation. Since I'm trying something new, I wanted to buy something cheap incase I don't like it so I wouldn't waste too much money. Now after trying Clinique it works well for me, so I probably going to stick with it. Save about $30-$40.
@babyboo: LOL I feel you about the MAC foundation! I'm always seem to come out orange :T
I am in love with Laura Mercier's foundation, I think it is called Sunny Beige. Lancome works well for me too, but I really want to try out Make Up For Ever HD. I've heard from everyone how great it is
I rotate between Shu Uemura Face Architect (love it - it covers so well!), Chanel Aqualumiere, and Becca Tinted Moisturizer. I use the Becca TM most of all. It doesn't cover too much, but gives a very healthy glow.
Personally, I love Revlon Colorstay.
I use golden beige and I am NC25-30 .
I swear by Makeup Forever HD too. In a pinch, I use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer.
I have Guerlain Gold in #02, but its a little dark for me atm & has pink undertone to it which I am disappointed with. Coverage is fantastic & doesn't cake or feel heavy at all.
Another foundation I fell in love with is Clarins Extra Firming foundation. They have a lot of color shade options & I wear #110 Linen. The coverage is medium to full, but buildable. I love it cos it's very neutral, not pink & definitely not to yellow either :)
Both of these foundations are not long lasting either though :( I have dry skin & long lasting foundations tend to dry my skin out terrible.
Hope this helps!
I use Temptu Airbrush Foundation #004. Looks natural even in direct sunlight :) Oh, and I have super oily skin, but it does not budge.
Makeup Forever. it's a shame they don't custom mix anymore. I used to get it remixed for summer and winter. I used to live in San Diego and was at the beach at least 2 days per week. MAC also has some yellow undertone shades. I can almost wear regular foundation because I have extremely pale skin but I have some yellow undertones. I think it's a bad combination -- pale and yellow. I would rather be pale with pink or dark with pink.
I use Temptu as well - Natural 007. I'm a bit on a darker side for an Asian. I've tried everything from Bare Minerals to Mac and can't seem to get good enough coverage for my acne prone skin without looking to caky. I really love it and use it everyday. Wish it was cheaper!
I just started on the MUFE HD foundation to make sure it wont break me out for the wed. I need a little bit lighter of a shade, but I will be super tan by the end of the week in Mexico. If it helps, the colors that matched up for me were 140 and 153. (yellow undertones)
I'm not asian (sorry to be a board imposter lol), but I do have yellow tones to my skin (even being pale pale pale) and I just wanted to throw Estee Lauder foundations out there. They definitely are more on the Neutral to yellow side of things.
My staple for foundation is Benefit's Playstick in Jumprope. Compared to my bf, I am very yellow, hope that helps. I love how it's cream to powder finish and you can layer as much as you want. There's also some plant ingredient in it that prevents pimples.
I used BareMinerals before, but I got allergic itchy reactions. It's beautiful though!
I like to use MAC'S studio fix (finish... idk the name) in NC40 then set with NC40 powder. :) Hope that helps!
I'm not asian, but I'm pretty yellow, and revlon's photofinish has a shade that worked well for me.
A bare minerals user here, and it's the golden medium also! I find it covers well, but will switch to Shiesido if I want a little more coverage.
