Hello bees! I am doing my own make-up for my wedding and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for make-up products. I am Asian (and located in the Midwest) and have a hard time finding products that fit my skin type, eye shape (monolid, single lid, no eye crease whatever), etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for
I love Sephora and have a weak spot for expensive make-up so the sky is the limit!
Well I’m looking for a foundation that doesn’t flake and stays in place. I have oily skin that tends to not hold make-up very well (even after I prime my skin, etc.). I have some kind of clinique foundation in a powder compact but it tends to start flaking off after about 3 hours . . . Do you set your foundation with powder?
So for my eyeliner I have tried both the Clinique cream shaper for eyes crayon and the stuff that comes in the pot (sorry, blanking on the name) — so far both of them have failed my eye type.
I have absolutely no crease and my eyeliner tends to “fall off” and land right below my lower lid making me look a little drugged out. My eye lids are probably a bit oily and I do need to get an eye primer, but even with the Clinique eye base, the cream shaper pencil did not stay (the nice lady at the Clinique place even applied it for me!).
Any suggestions ladies?? I’m thinking about trying Make-Up Forever’s Aqua eye liner . . .
I’m asian too and I swear by Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and Nars Blush
I’m still trying to find the perfect mascara and I’ve tried sooo many. From Chanel to Drugstore brands. The ones I’ve had the most luck with are Le De Guerlain, Make up forever and Maybelline Full and Soft. I have the same problem with my eye makeup falling off to below my eyes at the end of the day, but I find that those do it the least. If you have false lashes though, I’m not sure you will also need to put on mascara so you might be good there.
I also have the same problem with my eye liner and still can’t find one that doesn’t smudge at the end of the day. If you find one, let me know!
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner – it’s the only one I’ve tried that stays on all day, or nearly. If I prime under my eye (I only line under, not on the upper lid) with a bit of foundation and powder before apply the eyeliner it lasts even better.
Hello!! Okay, so I’m back from my appointment at Sephora (I did the $50 thing) and I would 100% do it again! I knew I was going to spend at least $50 on some combination of products so it was worth it to have the consultant walking me through everything. Seriously, the lady I had was great — she walked me through everything so hopefully I will be able to somewhat apply everything on my own!!
Here’s the thing, I don’t LOVE what my consultant did for my eye make-up but that was a bit of my own fault — I’m not good at expressing when I don’t like things when the other person is just soo nice!!
Here’s what I ended up purchasing . . .
Lorac Behind the Scenes eye primer
Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes in 0L (Mat Black)
Anastasia Brow Powder Duo (Ebony)
I did buy two other things but I might return them . . .
NARS lipstick in Mitzi –> LOVE LOVE the color but it lasted like 30 minutes after the consultant put it on me!!! I don’t really want to spend my wedding reapplying my lipstick every 20 minutes. I think I may have to default to a long-lasting lipstick. The color on the website looks SUPER pink but try it on in the store sometime, you might be surprised!
LORAC starry-eyed eyeshadow trio –> Here is where my consultant went nuts. I asked for “natural . . . I don’t wear eye shadow . . . really natural please” and got a “smokey brown eye” It apparently is the new replacement for the original smokey eye. I thought I could take the look down like 80% but maybe with the primer I could just get a cheaper shadow?
Tomorrow I’m going to be outside in the heat and humidity hopefully all day so I can let you guys know how my new make-up holds up!!
I usually use Bare Minerals Light with Golden Medium. For mascara, I use Blinc mascara. To curl my lashes, I use a regular Shiseido curler. I don’t use eyeliner because I have a problem with finding one that doesn’t smear. I normally don’t use eye shadow either. If I do, I use a smoothie blend from Bare Minerals. For lip stick/lip gloss, I use breading pudding and Nude from BM.
As for hair, I am think half up and half down. I don’t know if I am doing curly yet because my hair does not stay curl! grrr 🙁
