Istana is amazing! More specifically, Jennifer rocks my world. She also did the hair and makeup for my friend's wedding and she looked flawless. From what I recall, she also charged a jaw droppingly low rate for the mothers of the bride and groom to get their hair and makeup done too.
Here's my post:
I would suggest going to the makeup counters in Manhattan, esp at Bergdorf Goodman, at the Bobbi Brown counter. It's almost not possible to look terrible! Depending on the time you're getting married, if you like the counter "trial" you can quietly speak to the makeup artist and see if he/she would be willing to travel to you for the price in your budget?

Hi!!!
I'm a newbee to this forum and would like to exchange any wedding ideas with everybody. For starters, does anybody have recommendations on Asian makeup/hair salons in Flushing? I'm on a super tight budget and was not able to afford an artist that travels to my house; their starting prices are at around $300.
I made an appointment with Istana and they quoted me for $150-200. Has anyone had experience with them or other places? I also checked out VickyC5 but they quoted me $250-300. I saw some Korean salons on Northern Blvd but unsure of their prices. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
