It's great that you guys can talk about this process so openly!
@mermaideve: It's great that you can be so open and discuss how you feel and what you want. Sounds like maybe he has his own ideas in the works! And, you know, a Spanish certificate would be an interesting conversation piece :)

Okay, I couldn't wait so I asked him last night, "Would you like to elope with me?" He thought for a while and said "Not right now." He also said eloping sounded romantic and kind of scandalous and that he liked that. Also that he thought it would be fun to elope in Tijuana and have a marriage certificate in Spanish, but maybe that wouldn't be practical. :)
He said he was thinking some other things but would tell me later. I asked if I needed to worry and he said no. Hmm.
At least he didn't say NO!! So I think I am on the right track. I told him I didn't want to come to the end of another year (next year) and still not be married to him.
So, my cards are on the table. I feel much better now.
