Hmm…I know I couldn’t ask mine, but that’s because I know their financial situations. I think this might be one that you have to determine on your own based on your knowledge of them. Good luck!

Maybe you can help out with the extra $20 for each girl – make it a part of your BM gift to them?  If I were your BM, I wouldn’t have any problem buying the dress now, even though it is 3 weeks before X-mas.

@Snowy414: You don’t.  I know I wouldn’t be able to spend anything extra around this time. I’ll be broke until tax returns. ^_^

Given that “My BM’s and I talked about a budget of $150” I think you should pay the extra yourself.

If you’re questioning if they’ll feel uncomfortable about paying extra, they probably will (even if they don’t say it).

I’ve had the same issues + one “possibly” being pregnant next year since she is currently trying! The only reason I was pushing for them to buy was because it was a great deal and in the color we want! I unfortunately let it go! I honestly wish I hadnt, but you have to do what you have to do!

Is there anyways that you could help front the money for each dress??! And have them reimburse YOU? I was willing to do that for any and all of my girls, but the “may be preggo next year” still  wouldnt/couldnt commit!

I really hope something works out for you girls or you are able to find something closer to the date!

@Snowy414:that’s exactly how you should ask! just pay for the dresses yourself if you can swing it, and ask your bms for the money but tell them you understand if they need to wait until after christmas.

Is it currently on sale?  Are they going to be having sales soon?  It may come down in price.  Can you show us the dress?

I think people still need a deadline to reimburse you! I would say before the wedding! Or at the rehearsal so you dont have to worry about collecting/counting the money! Or ask your mom or your MOH to be in charge if you can trust her with that duty!

modcloth tends to sell out fairly quickly, so chances of a sale (and still having every size) are low.

There is no way I could ask my girls to do this. Christmas is stressful enough on everyones wallets without having to shell out almost $200 for a dress that they wont have to wear for 8 months.

In all honesty, if I was one of your bridesmaids and you asked me to make this purchase right before Christmas I would be none to pleased with you. However, everyones financial situations are different and maybe they don’t have tons of Christmas obligations that they need to tend to and they can afford to make the purchase.

I personally wouldn’t do it but you know your girls better than any of us do.

You might want to try to speak to them about the dress.  I know I wouldn’t be happy about putting out the money so near Christmas, however depending on your girls, if you purchase the dresses and have your girls reimburse you, it might work out.   Like PP have said … you know them.
