My wedding theme is simply the color blue. It's my favorite color, I love all shades, and I thought it would be pretty to incorporate it in my wedding. My dress will have a a blue sash, my shoes have blue polka dots, blue bridesmaids dresses, blue ties for the groomsmen, etc.

I'm thinking that it would be fun to ask my guests wear a shade of blue as well. Just to make my wedding a little more unique. I can't figure out a good way to do this though. I'd like to just include some kind of note in the invitation requesting they wear something blue, but I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

How many guests will you have?  I think it's a cute idea but might be hard to accomplish with a large group.  If you're having a small wedding with just close family and friends, they probably would be fine doing this.  Are you going to have an "additional info" insert w/ your invites?  This could be a good place to put something about wearing blue.  Maybe a cute rhyme?

you could play on the rhyme, Something borrowed, something blue.  ... Something blue - all of you!  Wear your favorite blah blah blah.  I would outsource this to a writer friend, but that's my first thought :)

I asked a question similar to this for my wedding.  I hear some guests will ask the color  so  they can match your colors but some will ask so that they make sure not to wear that color.

Just make sure you are clear that you want people to wear your color.

I would recommend against asking people to wear a particular color.  It seems a little controlling to me, and I think it would leave a bad taste in at least some people's mouths.

I think you could include a moo card or something similar. It's a really fun idea. I posted a wedding on the "real weddings of color" thread in which the bride and groom must have asked everyone to wear white. It looked really great in the pictures!

I will be wearing white and my wedding will be blue.

I would love it if you wore blue, too!

Not the best but maybe you can get something better from another bee.

For the actual ceremony it's going to be about 50 people and then the reception will be around 150. It's not something I'm set on, just something I thought would be fun. And since the guests will be mostly family, we've already passed the word around by mouth. I just thought I'd include something with the invitations as well. I don't want people to feel like they HAVE to wear blue, or that they have to go buy something just to wear to my wedding. I figure blue is a common enough color that most people have something they could wear. I like the rhyme idea, but I just can't put the words together Undecided

oh i love when people all wear all white!  Like the R Kelly "Step in the name of love (remix)" video.  If I threw another party of this scale someday, I would definitely use that theme. SO FUN!

It sounds fun...I just have one concern...

I have such a hard time finding dresses that fit me properly.  I am short, full on top, and have basically no hips.  I can imagine it would be frustrating to have to find a particular color and a good fit.

As a guest, I would not like it.

My wedding in general is going to be pretty offbeat and non-traditional. My main concerns are that it be fun and unique. I thought this would add a little something extra. When going over our potential guests in my mind I can't think of anyone who would be offended by the idea.
