YAY! I didn't do anything special to ask my bridesmaids, but now that I see all the nifty ways it can be done, I kind of wish I did. :)

I LOVE it! I have also purchased little cards, I love snail mail and think its the perfect way to ask BM long distance (followed by a phone call of course)!
I wish I had done that too. I totally didn't realize there were nice and formal ways to ask until after the fact. I spoke to them individually. Then I made a gmail group so I could contact them all- made a bridal party guide, wrote something nice about each of them and mailed that out. Make sure you clearly dictate what your expectations are for them. put the first thing as COMMUNICATING WITH THE BRIDE. I think this is the most stressful part when they don't respond to your calls, emails, texts, etc etc. (can you guess that I've had this issue?).
Also put in how you hope/expect them to help you. Don't be afraid to put : possibly contribute towards the expenses of various wedding related activities i.e. bachelorette party, bridal shower... People need to know that it will cost!
KolaBee - I totally agree - I'm making to do lists for everyone (including a list of the things/information that I promise I will get to them) so that we can keep track of everything!

So...all of my bridesmaids are out of state (I like to make my life complicated). I honestly tear up when I think about how far away I always am from my best friends; I have ones in Boston, DC, NYC, Chicago, and the list goes on! As the time came to ask them the big question, I was questioning a good way to do it! A phone call is nice, but I was hesitant to do it. Then, I was out running some errands at Target, I wandered into the card section. It was there that I came upon the most wonderful card...and a light bulb went on!
