The FI and I decided to donate $300 to the ASPCA instead of getting lavous favors for our guests.  When you give a donation you get a nice folded card that lets the guests know what the card means.  The outside of the card is not that fancy but the inside has a beautiful message in a lovely fancy font.

We did buy some 3x4 organza bags and filled them with some Halloween goodies last night and were going to attach the card with ribbon to the favor bags but the tags are almost as big as the favor bag so we will place them besides eachother on the table.

Since we are obsessive about our dogs and any animal our guests will not be sursprised by our donation.  I love the idea and the $300 dollars will last a lot longer than the candy buffet that we were going to do!

Has anyone else donated or thought about donating?

I think favors are a waste of money so we're planning on donating to the American Cancer Society to honor my fahter who passed away when I was a toddler.   Not sure how we'll announce it though.

We are doing donations to the ASPCA (memory of my best bud) and Catholic Charities Poverty Reduction Campaign (in honor of finace's grandmothers).  We also have little organza bags with Jordan almonds that will sit on top of the donation cards at each place setting.

we just decided to nix per person favors (even though we're doing a candy buffet) and do a donation instead...but i don't want to print 100 cards stating this at this late a date! and what do you put on the card anyways?

We're doing a donation to the American cancer society too.  This is how we're wording the card.  I haven't yet decided whether we'll do one card at each place setting or print it larger, and have it next to a framed picture of Matt's dad.

I think we'll be donating to the local shelter (where we got our dog), but i know that a friend of my mom makes really good cookies that we're thinking of using for wedidng favors. Depending on the price, we'll do cookies & donate.

We're doing cookies and donating.  We are actually using little envelopes as our guest place cards...(thanks Martha stewart for the idea), and we're putting their table card and the message about donation inside the envelope, so everyone will get one on their way to their seats.  I've also seen people who just put a card on each table and stand it against the centerpiece explaining the donation.

We did a donation to the American Diabetes Association. When we donated they had little table tents printed that they sent to us that also included our names & wedding date. I think it was a nice way to show guests what we did. We put 3 at each table and also one near the guest book.

We will be donating to a local hospital for cancer research... they actually provide us with nice cards to display at each table setting.  :)

That is what I love about the ASPCA donation because no matter how much you donate they will send you cards to put at each place setting. If any of you girls need some inspiration of what to write I can let ya'll know what it says inside the card and ya'll can change it up a bit. Just let me know.

We'll be donating to the ASPCA as well along with the American Cancer Society, (both causes close to our hearts).  Not sure if we'll be doing a card per guest or just one card per table, (probably the latter).

This thread is really great! I was stressing over not having favors so I started researching alternatives!

I have been researching www.globalgiving.com and I think that we are going to choose a charity and make a donation for each person attending.  The cards will say : "To continue the spirit of this day, a donation to (inster charity here) has been made in your honor".

Also, in lieu of a gift registry, I want to register with global giving and ask that donations be made in our name to (insert charity here).

I just feel like our wedding should be about community and the spirit of love and giving so donating to a cause close to our hearts (still to be determined) is the best way to celebrate!
