That I’m a natural redhead, in spite of the fact that I’m usually sporting 1-2 inches of roots. I think it’s the Irish accent that has them all fooled!

-that I’m stuck up (because I’m a bit shy)

-that I’m social awkward and nerdy (because I’m an engineer)

@MrsPanda99:  Dont know if this counts since its not really funny.  But I’m always mistaken for a bitch until people get to know me.  I’m shy… socially awkward… and people mistake it for me being self centered and a bitch.  I remember one girl not liking me in HS, but ended up working with me and telling me “I used to think you were such a bitch, but you’re actually pretty cool.”  I’ve also had people try to beat the shit out of me for “looks” I gave them, when I had never seen them previously.  I’m a thinker, and I tend to make faces when I do that.  I stare out into space.  But yeah.  Nothing really fun.  🙁

Oh goodness, where do I start? Since I don’t live in my home state anymore, when people do hear where I am from or ask me where I am from because of my accent and I say Louisiana, they immediately think I am some type of swamp person:

OR that I have a crazy Uncle Si stashed somewhere:

I blame the Discovery and A & E Channels for this, but whatever. I actually had to convince someone that we had electricity when I moved! BTW, I moved to Tennessee, not exactly the metropolis of New York City or anything… I was amazed at what people assume I do (wrestle alligators WTF!? and that I put Tabasco sauce on EVERYTHING including my cereal).

@MrsPanda99:  I must say, the accent is an awesome icebreaker. I’m a doctor and probably 25% of my patients comment on it when I introduce myself. It’s a great way to get on their good side, especially in Australia where half the population seems to be of Irish descent.

That they know me!  I have a very ahem, common familiar face, so strangers are always either mistaking me for someone they know or new people I meet like to tell me they know someone who looks just like me.  I think I should’ve pursued a career in tv hosting so everyone would think their friend was telling them things! 😛

That I can’t be Polish b/c of my olive skin and darker coloring, and my soon-to-be maiden last name does not ::GASP:: end in -ski.

A few PPs said that people assumed they were stuck-up b/c they were quiet or made thinking faces. I totally suffer from bitchy resting face (lol), and when I was dating my ex in college, a bunch of his female friends thought I hated them b/c I “was giving them a dirty look out in public.” Um, no, that’s… my face. :/

@MrsBeck:  Yes to the engineer comment!  And I would add that because I’m an engineer people assume I can fix things.  Meanwhile I’m a Water Resources engineer, so I know basically nothing about how machinery works.

That I’m a bitch. People have told me I have a bad case of the bitch face too. I have been told many times that when people first meet me they think I’m going to be mean & when I open my mouth they are surprised I’m actually nice. I guess that is a compliment?

I’m glad I’m not the only one! Everyone assumes I’m a bitch at first because that’s just how my face looks and I’m on the quiet side until I get to know you. It’s the worst at work because I am always working hard and really focused = bitch face

People assume Im a bitch. Mostly because I give dirty looks without even realizing it. My friends will regularly be like “omg, who are you giving the stink eye to?!” and im like huh? stink eye? I wasn’t! lol I guess I just make mean faces naturally? But on more than one occasion I have had people say to me “ya know, you are way nicer than I thought you were gonna be!”
