I would go with a simple solitaire. I’ve always found those to be classic and timeless. I may be biased though because I have a solitaire 🙂

I would go with the simple solitaire. Like you said, you can get a blingy wedding band, which will jazz it up while still being more your everyday style.

@Pang27:  I also vote solitaire.  Are there other solitaires we can help you choose between?

haha I know exactly how you feel…I was like this when I was looking at e-rings and now I’m like this looking at wedding dresses!

My opinion: 1ct for solitaire, .75 if you’re going halo. Mine is .75 and sometimes I look at it and think “maybe a bit too big“. Depends on your finger size too.

I love solitaires with a little twist like the first picture you posted. Great for everyday wear and never goes out of style! Be careful with the losing the little diamonds if you go with the beautiful halo setting, especially with 3 rambunctious boys!

What does your SO think? As much as I fretted and fretted over the ring, I love what he picked out (with my input haha) in the end because really it symbolizes his love for me. I wouldn’t trade it for any other ring in the world, even if other bands are thinner or the cut is rounder or the shank is more encrust-y.

@orchidaloha:  I vote for them in the order you put them on the poll.

@Pang27:  haha! my FI is the opposite…I showed him a bling-y ring and he said “dont like it…it looks fake” To each their own!

I like the idea of the the halo with plain shank and bling-y band. A compromise?

Since you have young children, I think a 1 carat solitaire would be a better fit for your lifestyle.  I have a plain shank halo, and while I love it, I don’t wear it too often because pave’s pretty delicate and the setting’s high.

Just be aware with the first ring you posted that it sticks up significantly above the band so it can and will get caught on everything especially if you are chasing after your kids all day. 🙂 I have an heirloom 3 stone ring that is raised and it took me a good six months before I realized that I had to adapt what I was doing or my ring would get caught all the time.

That being said I really like the look of a solitaire.

Even though I’m not getting a solitaire for myself, I have always loved the first ring you posted. The design is so pretty and dainty. I normally don’t like solitaires because of the settings, but the little ring around the base is beautiful and can be paired with anything. Also, I am looking at a very similar style wedding band. They’re so pretty!
