I just passed the 12-week point after having ordered my dress (Alfred Angelo), and no word from the shop yet. I think 8-12 weeks is their standard estimate, so I realize it would be premature to call them now to check. I also know that calling to check on the delivery status of something is probably like watching a pot boil – checking on it won’t make it happen any faster – but is there a point at which it would be appropriate for me to call and ask about the status? I guess I’m just concerned about the possibility of my dress coming in and the people at the shop forgetting to get in touch with me or having my number down incorrectly or something, especially since their policy says they return a dress to stock if a customer doesn’t come pick it up within 2 weeks or so.

If they didn’t give you an estimated delivery date when you ordered it, I think it’s totally fair to call and ask for one.

Call whenever you want to. Follow your gut! In this situation I would call.

I say call, it’s not as if the bridal shop will be offended and cancel your dress order. 🙂 I just ordered my dress and wish I could call and check up on it.

There shouldn’t be a problem with calling. My dress took 5 months to come in, but they told me it could take that long when I ordered it.

Thanks, guys – I will probably give it until next weekend and then give them a call to see what’s up. 🙂

Call! You may be pleasantly surprised. My bridal shop told me my dress would be in by the end of December, and I waited patiently (well maybe not so patiently) until January 1st, and then called. It turned out my dress was already there, and they just hadn’t gotten around to calling me yet.

I would give them a call. Mine took 6 months to come in, but they were ok with me starting to call and get a status update after about 5 months. If AA is supposed to be faster, they should have an estimated date of delivery for you by now.
