Hi! So you have a caterer to use for the rehearsal dinner already? That makes the choices a little more narrow, b/c most of the place have their own caterer, but you could try several different places! Try: The Trolly Barn, Atl Botanical Gardens, The King Plow Arts Center, Rhodes Hall, Mary Gay House, The Loft of Castleberry Hill. Good luck!
Hi! Welcome to the boards! The Piedmont Park Conservancy has event spaces right in the middle of Piedmont Park, which is lovely (I am biased bc I am getting married at Park Tavern). They have a list of approved caterers so I guess you might have to see if yours is there. http://www.piedmontpark.org/facilities/facilities.html
Good luck!
Not sure if you are looking for in the city, but a friend had her RD at Swallow at the Hollow and it was unique and delicious! Also their other restaurant, Greenwood's is great too!
Not sure if you have already made a decision... you're way ahead of me. I'm just starting to look, but I think the Margaret Mitchell House would be a perfect "Atlanta" venue, as it is the home of Gone with the Wind.
They do allow outside catering, but I think they have a preferred caterer list, so you may want to check their policy on whether it would cost you extra to use your caterer there or if they are on the list. Also, the venue is managed by the Atlanta History Center and I know they make you use their bar service at their Swan House venue, but it could be different at MM house.
I believe the size would be perfect for your event. I know it was too small for my 200pp wedding, but I would think 100pp would be manageable.
Check it out! http://www.margaretmitchellhouse.com/cms/Weddings+and+Special+Occasions/252.html
Good luck!
We do love Greenwoods (their fried chicken and apple pie is to die for) but if you're looking more elegant, try Sugo. We had our rehearsal sort of dinner (just our immed family) there the night before our reception there (also at Sugo).
Amazing Italian/Greek fusion cuisine, several private rooms for groups, and even event space for receptions and their food is well...unbelievable! Several around the suburbs. Our favorite is the one in John's Creek.
They also have under their wing, a second restaurant w/event space too, the Iberian Pig on the square in Decatur.
Oh the Castelluci family is wonderful wonderful! Best food ever! Our guests still rave about how our reception food was the best they've ever had! I so love their homemade sangria they made for us too!
@bellenga: She already has a caterer for the reception, so restaurants are basically out.

Hi ladies,
I'm new to the boards and so excited to be here! My fiance and I are trying to find a venue for our rehearsal dinner next June. We have a caterer on board, but right now, we're looking for a space- preferably something affordable, fun, and with a little character. Most of our guests will be in from out of town (hence why we'd love a venue that is unique to Atlanta) and staying in midtown/downtown and we'd love to keep the dinner nearby. Do any of you have any suggestions? (Right now, it looks like we'll have 100 or so guests for the dinner- I have a BIG family!!)
