You could do Stone mountain, Olympic Centennial Park, Peidmont park, Little five points, Lake Lanier.. Just depends on what kind of setting you two want.
Atlanta Botanical Garden?
You know where I really wanted to do my engagement shoot? World of Coke. I'm not sure they allow that, though.
@LaborofLove - I LOVE the world of COke and FI actually loves coke and that would be perfect!!! I wonder if we had tickets if they would allow us to do it - I mean they do allow you to take pictures so I dont really see how its any different. It can be SO crowded though so I dont know!!
@TheRen - Ive heard of Stone Mountain and of course Lake Lanier...but we are getting married at Lake Oconee so I kind of wanted something more contemporary and modern as our engagement background. Im going to look into those other suggestions you gave me!
Thanks ladies!
No problem. Ive been here 20 years so dont hesitate to ask if you have questions or even want pictures of a certain place before you decide!
We did ours in an abandoned (and do not wops... woops!) field, in the middle of a median in Little 5,Freedom Park (BIG recommends!), and the High Museum.
I say go for the High and FP. Piedmont park and centennial are so overdone.
You can also hit up Decatur, they have a lot of little corners with awesome backdrops. You will have to share with us once you have them! I know they will be beautiful!
im not from atlanta but was there this summer.. i second olympic park.. esp all those pretty waterfalls along the sides and if the fountain is working... along the same lines as world of coke though- that aquarium is amazing... FI and i stared at that giant tank FOREVER.. if your photographer is super skilled that could be really cool.. especially the tunnel that goes through the tank with the fish all above you.
I think some pics at the Fernbank Museum would be cool. Unique reflecting pool out front and some cool dinosaur skeletons inside..very different!
I'd also try the zoo for some fun, whimsical shots.
We're members of the GA aquarium and if they'll let you, the inside could be great! Amazing.
Oooh, I've seen some awesome ones come out of Fernbank. Especially through the dinosar cutouts in the wood! Good call.
I second the lil 5P, there is also the Botanical Gardens that will be in full bloom in April. And we currently have a fair at Turner Field...I have seen some great action shots from the fair! Good luck!
I second @jaymugirly , Decature would be a fantastic Urban looking backdrop, especially in the historic downtown square, lots of brick and unique sign background possibilities. What abour Dahlonega north of the city? Lots of rustic charm.
We did our engagement pictures at Piedmont Park and we LOVE them! I think that *a lot* of people do their pictures there because there are just so many different backgrounds and pictures you can get within a small area. After researching e-pics a lot, we decided that it was more important to us to have 'us' as a couple show through instead of putting so much emphasis on backgrounds/scenery. We play softball and other things at Piedmont Park so we knew no matter what we'd at least have a good time there! Depending on where you are at, Piedmont Park can also be a good place to get a picture of you guys with some of the Atlanta skyline in the background (near the softball fields I believe).
@scissors I think it's kind of offensive to say that Piedmont Park is ‘overdone’ – it’s definitely a personal choice, but you don’t have to judge others. :-( I am sure there are other brides on here who've also had their pics taken there.
Hi there! I am getting married in Piedmont Park, so I did my engagement shoot in Grant Park and the Cyclorama. It gave us the park/nature aspect as well as some "city" shots. The pictures were amazing! Best of luck!
We ended up doing them in piedmont park!
To anyone wondering if you can take photos at the aquarium, you most certainly can. I know because I have. I think they like the exposure. I would still have your photographer be descreet. That would be respectable. You won't need flash.
We're doing part of our engagement shoot with the "Up" theme and those pictures will mostly be taken at the Atlanta Zoo and Grant Park. We also want some comfortable casual pictures and will be doing those around Decatur.
We did ours all throughout piedmont park. The playground, slides, benches, the dock right by the water. It was great. Hot as hell, but great!
What about Westside? There are some cool urban spots along Marietta St. and Howell Mill Rd.
Also - check out The Goat Farm! It's near Figo Pasta, Taqueria del Sol: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Goat-Farm-Atlanta/162337850449783?sk=info
PM me if you want a link to photos I took of the site a few years ago (when I lived in ATL).
@zagora: I did my engagement photos at The Goat Farm and loved it! YOu can check them out here: http://charis-images.com/blog/?p=868
@drummergirl: AWWW, I love! I wish I still lived here so we could do the same. Still scouting out locations here in DC. :)

FI and I are coming down to GA in mid April and we are going to do an engagement shoot. I asked the photographer to surprise me, but she hasn't lived in Atlanta THAT long so I just wanted to have some ideas from you guys of what would be a good place to do a shoot! Im looking for something fun and unique. Please help me out!! THank you :-)
