Does anyone have a suggestion on an affordable caterer? I am having trouble finding anyone for less than $20/person (not including alcohol). Are my expectations unreasonable for the Atlanta area or have I just not found the right catering company?

I don’t think less than $20 is possible when you add in servers, bartenders, manager costs. I’m sure you can do just the food for that amount but not labor.
I’m not sure the exact cost but I heard good things about Big Girls Catering out of Acworth.

That’s good to know, thanks for the heads up. It’s hard to plan a reasonable budget when you’ve never planned something like this before! We will just have to move some money around to make the food budget bigger.
I appreciate the recommendation, Big Girls (lol) seems reasonable!

Affordable Events has great food at very affordable rates. 404-909-5251 http://www.aeandmycatering.com/ they are located in McDonough, but I know they cater events and wedding all over metro Atlanta.
I used to live next door to the owner – she is so sweet and an amazing chef. After tastings she’d send leftovers to my house so I have tried many of her dishes and cakes and can atest that they are wonderful! Sure do wish she still lived next door! LOL! If my venue wasn’t all inclusive I would definaitely be using them as my caterer.

Check out Talk of the Town Caterers. They’re probably not going to be under $20 but they are probably the cheapest of the big catering outfits. I think they might be at like $27. We didn’t end up going with them, but they were very nice and VERY willing to negotiate.

I was having the same problem until a miracle happened! Shantel Bradford with a Divine Taste of Heaven is not only affordable, but she is delicious. Her contact info is 404.553.4636 and [email protected]

I am not sure if you have already found someone. I am planning my sisters wedding in September. I probably was given 25 quotes from all different kinds of caterers. She is paying for the wedding herself so we were on a very limited budget. The one thing i learned was to not go by the per person price. I had someone tell me the food cost would be $15 a head but with all the extras it ended up being over 5 grand for 100 people. CRAZY! I also had someone else add a $750 transport fee. When I called and asked what that was for I was told gas and such. The venue is 25 miles from them. Some people will give you a per person and then every little thing is additional.
The person who gave me the best overall price was:
http://www.myclearcatering.com They are a newer catering company but he has been a chef for over 15 years. They have been lovely to deal with!! They are now also doing the rehearsal dinner and bridal shower. The food was awesome at the tasting! We were really impressed.
Hope this helps.
