We're in Columbus. Yesterday it was 70 degrees and thundering. This morning there is about 2 inches of snow on the ground and it's 34 degrees. What is up with this weather?
Yes apparently CC it's possible. I live north, in Cumming, and it's been thundering. T lives in Suwanee and it's snowing there.
WTF?????
I still think we're gonna confuse the weather satellites so much they're all just gonna spontaneously combust right now! lol!
I have one question..is the now sticking around? I am somewhat freakin' on this b/c I am on call today and all night tonight and have to drive over four bridges over Lake Lanier to get to my hospital if an emergency arises...
You're a little west of me right?
Since I am greatly lacking in zzz and somewhat zombie-like, I have rewritten a holiday favorite for my buddies here in the ATL region (yea we are so big we should be a region!)
"Oh the weather outside is frightful,
but in the hive it's so delightful..
But there's one thing I have to know..
WILL IT RAIN, OR THUNDER OR SNOW?"
I think it's sticking around through tonight at least. Atlanta's under severe weather warning until midnight. There's already several inches in VA-Highlands! All winter with no snow, and now in March! Crazy, especially after yesterday's t-shirt weather!
I grew up in Alpharetta and got married there too. The weather in February is always like this. There will be two weeks of nice weather, where is gets warm and all the flowers on the trees bloom, and then boom! It will freeze in the first week of March and all the flowers die. I watched it happen so many years growing up. Our big blizzard in '93 was in March too. :)
I'm from Alpharetta also! (Transplanted in DC, but having my wedding in Norcross...) The last "big" snow I saw was the Blizzard of 93. My mom and I were talking about that on the phone this morning.
About the snow and thunder -- it's actually a weather phenomenon called thundersnow (instead of a thunderstorm). Y'all's storm is headed to us in DC (and hopefully bring 6-12 inches of snow with it) and I'm crossing my fingers for some thundersnow. It's just so wonky...
It's sticking here... Looks like it's moving into Atlanta. I'm just waiting for my cell to ring begging me to come to work tonight.
No thundersnow here.
Nope.
Just rain. And go figure..I am NORTH of both of you. I am in N. Cumming area. NO snow for me? Usually the snow goes further north. Wierd.
I will go and stick my head out the front door before I write the next sentence. T's been texting me asking if we can all go play in the snow..I have no snow. Going to poke head out now.
Just rain. But it's getting colder.
@bellenga....are you seriously still getting rain? Ours (we're between 13 & 14) has turned from thundersnow to HUGE snow flakes that are starting to stick on our deck? Which side of 400 are you on?
@crabcake... my doctor friend in Alex City just got the "summons" to work for the evening....so perhaps turn your cell off? ;)
@ggsb...still rain here..but going to refresh my coffee and poke head out door again.
Btw...I AM ON CALL ALL DAY AND NIGHT! I share the pain of your doctor friend...my hospital is about 14 miles away..
Ok..going to poke head out door. Rain. No snow.
I am literally on 400. maybe 1/2 mile off of it. Oh well. Gonna sign off and do some housework!
Ok. Just got coffee and it is raining but with some snow.
Crud. I love snow but all this rain will make for some crazy ice. Heading to grocery in a bit before it freezes here. Gotta take care of my little cupcake. He's 10. Made us a huge breakfast and am just nesting inside today. Then to clean house. :)
Finally a bit of snow!
Everybody wish me luck that nobody calls me in today to the hospital!
I'm leaving mine on, but thankfully I'm not on call, so I don't have to go in if I don't want to. It's just that there's a large river here (Chattahoochee!) and half of us live on the Alabama side (me included) so no one is going to want to have to brave the drive across the river. We're completely avoiding leaving the house. Mr. and Mini CC went and played for a while. I'm a bad mom, no gloves on Mini...but they were only out there for about 20 minutes.
The snow is slacking off now. I'm guessing the roads are about to start freezing. We were supposed to meet with our dance instructor today. I don't think that's going to happen.
I totally feel ya on the crazy weather, try living in Missouri. We can have thunderstorms, hot days, tornados and snow all in the same week, that's why everyone is always sick here, lol. Yesterday we got over 6 inches of snow and now we're supposed to get 70 degree weather in a couple of days. The weather here is always....interesting, lol.
I used to live south of Atlanta right outside Greenville but my family still lives there.
We got over 2.5 inches here today! My fiance and I were outside playing in the snow with our dog for about two hours (after being cooped up in the High Museum for the first hour or so of the snowfall). I love love LOVE snow! I wish I could order some up for our January wedding next year!

Ok hive. It is 12:30 pm here in the ATL. It is thundering at my home and slightly warm.
A few hours from now we're supposed to get SNOW. Like over an inch of SNOW.
I am not originally an Atlantan. I'm from No. Mississippi/Memphis area and not used to this as it's slightly colder over there.
Frickin thunderstorm followed by snow.
Atlanta is enough to make the weather channel satellite blow up I tell ya!
