So, through tripadvisor.com, my husband and I met another couple in our same town that are getting married at our same hotel in Jamaica!  CRAZY small world, as the hotel only does 20 weddings a year, and they fill up a year in advance.  So!  We've become friends, and were so excited to talk to friends that really understood where we were coming from w/ planning.  (The Rockhouse is quite an experience - I feel like you need to be there and see it for yourself to get the magic!)

We had planned on just gifting them our lanterns, tea lights, whatever we had brought for decor to the wedding, since we know it's a pain in the toosh to bring down, and coincidentally we really were looking for the same wedding feel.  The bride even picked out THE SAME DRESS as me.  CRAZY - this was before we met, so no worries about either of us stalking the other, haha.  Long story short - we're better friends with them now, and we found out that they'll be inviting us to their wedding!  We just got back from our trip and already we are contemplating going back?  Would it be crazy weird to basically attend your own wedding? I'm not kidding - the decor all the same, buffet too, same transportation company folks, brides' dress, heck- I think we could even end up in the same hotel room as when we stayed for ours!  Do you think that would be insanely fun, or like a weird trip to deja-vu town?  We knew we'd go back eventually, but less than 3 months later?

    Quoting redherring - WWTHD? hehe.

It's a beautiful place.  I don't know about you, but I don't think I got to enjoy my wedding as much as say a guest did.  I was so busy and it went so fast.  If you're close friends now, why not go and celebrate their marriage?

I think it would be a little weird and you might feel like you were the bizarro version of your wedding, but hey - it's Jamaica! Go for it if you've got the time off and the $$$ to pull it off. It will probably be really amusing after the weirdness factor wears off.

These were my thoughts too, but I was hoping some practical bees would talk me out of it ;)

How fun to attend our own bizarro wedding! AND to celebrate with new friends?

I would so go. You put so much effort and planning into your own wedding to make guests happy. How many brides say "We worked so hard on this and were so busy we didn't even get to try/taste/do/see xyz!"? Now you have the opportunity to enjoy the event from the other side of the coin. Go for it and have fun!

If you can afford it, I don't see why it wouldn't be totally worth doing!  Hey, at least you know it would be a wedding where you really like the decor, dress, etc.

I'd do it if you have the money and time. Why not? That place is amazing.  One of my friends had a small and intimate wedding there in October after dating her hubby for 9 years! Now, they have a little baby on the way that she conceived there!

@melizzzleigh - wonderful story!  However that wouldn't be a selling point for my hubby for a few years, hehe.

@Lillindy - sure!  You can come in my big suitcase :-)

Update - I brought the topic up last night to J and he laughed, because the day prior I was saying, Oh it's too impractical.. Then he told me he has already checked out the flights.  Not good, not terrible.  Anyone have any good sites to plug in how much you want to spend on a flight and get email alerts?  That could really help this along!

That sounds like a lot of fun!!  I'm getting married in Aruba and we invited a couple of friends that honeymooned there last year and they are so excited to go back!!

When i look for flights I always use sidestep.com.  Hope this helps!  and I hope you have a great time!!  Btw, did you ever post pics of your wedding!?  I'd love to see some!!

Talk about a coincidence! That same dress, even? That's kinda cool.. WHAT IF you guys turn out to be BFFs? LOL.

But, seriously, I think it would be yes, sort of bizarre, but also pretty cool to go to their wedding.

I was searching flights this morning and I realized that bing travel lets you set a fare alert and track flights.  =)

I say if you can afford it do it!

We were looking at staying at that resort for our honeymoon, but we found an amazing deal and Greece and had to take it.

Someday I would love to stay there though!

It's official - we purchased airline tickets!  Jetblue had a ridiculous sale that popped into my inbox - These suggestions were great!  I can't wait to go and eat dinner (didn't happen at ours!  woops) and dance and not trip on my dress and meet some new Rockhouse converts :) WOOHOO! Just about 7 weeks!
