Honestly? I would never, ever edit photos on a tablet or laptop. The screens are difficult to calibrate, and it just isn't an ideal setup. Usually they don't have the processing power/memory to really handle large workflows.
I would also be really upset if my husband bought me an expensive piece of technology meant for my work without speaking to me about it first. I'm way too particular about my needs for that to work for me. I think you should talk to him and see what he would want before you make such a large purchase!
@crayfish:I did talk to him about it. He has a Wacom Bamboo right now that he uses, but when he worked for a software company and was doing the photography thing more he was using an Intuos4 that belonged to the company and he has said many many times how he wanted one. I would never drop almost $500 on something like that if we didn't talk about it first. ^_^
I was just reading more about it and heard a few people complaining about the nibs on a graphic designer forum and on a photography forum like 2 people complained about the same thing, but overall it seems like everyone who has one loves it on both forums. I know I shouldn't let 3 or 4 bad reviews out of 200 5 star ones, but I overthink things and wonder "what if" you know?
I'm a designer. Intuos are definitely a step up fro the Wacom one he has. I'd say if he's used it and has expressed that he wants on then go ahead and get it for him.
And if he hates it you can send it to me! :)
i have a graphire (what they now call bamboo), and my buddy who also had one just upgraded to an intuos. he says he can definitely see a (positive) difference. i'd say do it, but make sure there's a solid return policy in case something goes awry?
I feel better about it. I talked to my friend who is a fashion photographer and he said he has used one before. Since it's for his work, I feel better that he will probably make the money back since he will be able to add more to his porfolio and take on other projects. ^_^

SO is a graphic designer/web developer and for Christmas I want to get him a new tablet. I was about to buy the Wacom Intuos4 for him. I'm not techie so...yeah.
Anyway, what he does is edit for photographers that may not know their way around all the editing software just yet. He also does freelance work for a tattoo shop and he does freelance work on wedding invites (suites) websites, blogs, and lots of FLASH work.
The reviews seem good for the item, but there are always bad ones out there too that make me quiestion it.
So, does anyone use the Wacom Intous4 or is there a better tablet out there? Thanks!
