We aren't doing anything to big. Since my SIL decided to get married on our anniversary we can't celebrate that day but we will be going away the week before. We just rented a low key house a couple hours away in a little quite town with a lot of shopping, restraunts, and beaches.
Any ideas for gifts to your husband? I can't think of anything.
Dont know what were doing yet. I know we want to eat at Seasons 52 which just opened near our house because we ate there for our first restaurant meal as husband and wife the night after our wedding. Other than that, no plans yet. I think DH has something up his sleeve. The only thing I have planned is getting DH an anniversary cake from the baker we didnt go with in the flavors we didnt go with because it was way more expensive. We will be in Georgia for July 4th so I am going to do that for him then.
Not yet...especially since we recently found out that we won't be together for our anniversary. Silly military sending him away for all of August. :P
Do you like said SIL if you did it would be cool to share a anniversary. If not, boo to them for picking the same wedding date!!! But that sounds like a wonderful relaxing anniversary celebration trip!
I have two ideas I'm throwing around. One is something a bee did, 52 favors in a jar that he would open one up every week of our second year together. The other is to get our vows framed. We wrote our own vows so my idea was to have like a 8x10 with Vows letter pressed on the top then have a calligrapher write our vows out. But since we are doing a small trip I think I might cut out the calligrapher portion to save $$.
awe. I love the sentiment of the restaurant and the cake.
How dare the military!
What about celebrating earlier then before he leaves?

We are taking advantage of a awesome Living Social Escape that came up two days ago. We're heading up to the Niagara Wine Region in Canada for a 4-5 hour tour of a vineyard with a sommelier lunch on the vineyard, learn how the wine is made and we get to leave with a personalized bottle of wine. Overnight stay at the guest cottage with a view of the vineyards and breakfast for two. We love the Niagara Wine Region so it's perfect. And my coworker gave us a gift card for a restaurant in the wine region I've been wanting to try forever. It's farm to table cuisine and it has tons of good reviews so we'll be going there for dinner as well. :)
@Gerbera: Hehehe, I know! We had a feeling that something like this would happen and so we had our top tier at the 6 month mark. He is leaving in less than a week so we really don't have a lot of time to celebrate other than what we did in February. Oh well.
We're going to Cabo! The vacation we booked was a great deal, plus it was almost exactly how much we got back from our taxes! I'll probably order a little cake from the bakery where we got our wedding cake.
We're going on a weekend trip back to the city we met in and recently moved from. We're going to go out to the bar we met at, some of our fave restaurants, and maybe for a walk around the university we attended together. Yay!
we haven't made the exact plans, but my brother and sil are moving to northern california in august and i think we're going to go out and help them/babysit my adorable niece while they unpack/set up their new house, etc, so we'll tag a couple extra days on to that in napa or something :) MUCH nicer than what we were planning--we're in nyc so we thought we'd rent a cabin upstate or something for a low-key/cheap getaway, but napa sounds much more romantic!
but it won't be exactly on our anniversary--i'm taking summer classes that don't end until the week after. i think on our actual anniversary, or best man and his gf will be visiting us, which will be fun though not so romantic :P they've been planning to come visit for months now though, every time they're coming something else comes up, so it'll be great to see them.
also our 5 year dating anniversary is in about 3 weeks, but i don't think we're making plans, besides maybe dinner....the joys of living of a graduate student stipend :P
My BFF is having her shower on the day of our anniversary so that weekend is out. We might go to Toronto or else New York. We went to Australia to watch Tennis for our honeymoon and now we might go to watch tennis for our anniversary!
@PitBullLover- Yup, DH tried to say something but it didn't really matter.
@Gerbera- No, we don't even speak. They haven't talked to us in over a yr (they did show up to our wedding tho). Let's just say, picking the same date was not done with the best intentions on their part.
We've got nothing planned because Wombat arrives in July. It kind of makes everything hard to plan. Selfish baby ;)
I think that is an awesome anniversary celebration/gift to each other! A testament of your love to each other! :)
We just celebrated our June 5th wedding! We just ended up going to see a movie the night before and then cooked a nice dinner at home. It was very relaxing and surprisingly a nice change from routine for us.
PS - pictures are on my blog which is in my signature.
@Gerbera: Iwas going to give him my social security card with my name changed on it (since it's paper), but realized that the doctor's office will call my married name before our anniversary. Anyway, thanks! Wombat really is a testament to our love.

Just curious if any other newlyweds from August have started planning their anniversary plans yet?!
We're not doing anything big since we had a huge honeymoon. But life willing we do have plans to do something big for our 5 year.
