-Make escort cards
-Favors (wont get done till week of wedding)
-Groomsman gifts and RB, FG gifts
-Select music for special dances
-Order wedding bands (in 2 weeks)

MissParrot: I’m August 17th and a terrible procrastinator so I don’t have much advice but thought I’d pipe in and say you may want to get your wedding rings soon. For some reason my Fiance’s ring took two weeks to come in while mine is six weeks and counting. I got it in rose gold which may be the reason but just a warning to a fellow August bee! I was also told that the first fittings for the dress should be scheduled in May to get a June appointment with the wedding season being in full bloom.

1bridetobe2014: Great thanks, We are going in exactly two weeks to order our rings. I spoke with our jeweler a few months ago, and he said to definately come in by June. We are going with a small Mom and Pop Jeweler who custom made my e-ring. I have already had my 2nd fitting for my dress, so the next time I see it will be my wedding day 🙂

MissParrot: I’m August 17 but I basically have all the same to-dos as you. A lot of them can’t happen til closer to the wedding.
You could send invites on June 1st- that gives people about a month to rsvp.
We are sending invites May 17 because our room block gets released June 16- want to make sure guests have the necessary info in plenty of time!

I’m August 1 and have the EXACT same to do list as you (except rings. We are had ours custom made by my mom’s friend who is a jeweler, so we had to give him months in advance).
Since we’re also doing a destination wedding to California (we live in Hawaii and our families are in Seattle and Chicago), we sent out our invites in March and are JUST starting to get RSVPs back now. I would honestly send the invites out in the next two weeks if you can. That gives them the last two weeks of May and all of June to figure their plans out.
You don’t seem behind at all! Just take each item one day at a time and the list will be done before you know it!

We’re August 2nd!! Yay!
We actually just finished our invitations last night. They will be going in the mail today or tomorrow with an RSVP deadline of July 2nd.
I worried that we might be sending them out a bit too early but I’d rather give people more time than less to get back to us.
Our to do list is very similar to yours:
- Food tasting @ Venue
- Figure out Groomsmen gifts
- Design ceremony and connect with Officiant
- Book hair/makeup trial
- Find veil & hair piece
- Dress fittings
- Figure out songs (first dance, entrance, etc)
- Write notes for MC (housekeeping, welcome, etc)
- Finish decor (guestbook, table signs, card box, etc)
- Create seating plan/chart
- Final meeting with florist
- Finalize wedding day logistics/schedule
- Get marriage licence
- Probably a million other little things that I’m forgetting

-Pick menu and meet with venue
-Meet with DJ
-Hair/make up trial
-Flower girl and ring bearer gifts
-Write thank you speech
-Organize rehearsal party – but I think we’re just doing finger foods and BBQ at our place so that shouldn’t be too bad

MissParrot: 12 weeks from yesterday!!! We sent out our family and parent’s friends invites first (on May 1) because we knew most of the no’s would come from this group due to travel requirements. We just counted up our responses so far and we are at a 14% “No” rate but I think we are still going to see quite a bit more in the next few weeks. We are sending out our friend invites on June 1. So exciting!

I am getting married in August, and I sent my invites out in January! I am paranoid about people dilly dallying.
Anyway, I still have to make sure all the guys have their suits (procrastiating males), handle the cake (not my fault, the shop caught fire and they have been repairing it), seating chart, handle the music (we will not have a DJ, just a laptop or MP3 and some nice speakers so we can be totally in charge of what we play), ringbearer (my son) suit, wedding license (can’t get that until July) and other small things… Good luck ladies, let’s get it all done!!!

MissParrot: Date twin! Mailed our invitations last week with a respond date of July 2. Maybe a little early, but I was getting impatient to know who is coming 🙂
The main things that are left to do:
- Figure out ceremony music
- Decide on ceremony readers
- Decide who will lead the shoe game at the reception!
- We STILL need to figure out our honeymoon :/
- I need to find a veil before my hair trial in June
- Put together our favors
- Make programs
- Seating chart
- Figure out what will be our guestbook
- Decide on rehearsal dinner location (have narrowed it down to 2)
Really the only one that concerns me is the honeymoon! A lot of the others we can’t even do until we have a guest count anyway. Good luck! 🙂
