I'm an August 1st 2009 bride! We're getting married in upstate NY on the St. Lawerence River. How 'bout you?!
I'm getting married in the Burlington, VT area. Colchester to be exact but no one really knows where that is. :)
I'm hoping we'll get more month twins!
Hi there, I'm getting married 8/1/09 in Newport Beach, CA. How far along are all of you in the planning??
We're got the site, the photog, the guest list, the dress, the rentals, and caterer squared away. We also have our color scheme and centerpieces decided. We do seem to be lagging in the room blocks, menu choices and invitation/STD department though!
How's everything going with you guys?
I'm an August 1 Bride!! I think it's such a great date...the first of the month... ahh I just love it!
Even though it's an August wedding, my colors are golds and creams. I'm going for an angelic-elegant feel. How about you Bees?
Hi all! Can't decide if I'm behind or on schedule, but August first is coming one way or another. Am currently having the worst time finding a photographer, but hopefully I've finally found someone who will work out. We've made but not send our STD...Never before have I thought so much about the first week of August in the first week of January!
I hear ya fizicsGirl- on new years day my lovely SIL to be said "did you realize your wedding is 7 months from today?! You'd better get moving" I was like OMG 7 months... last I checked it was over a year out. I still need to work on room blocks.
Here's my inspiration board for ours LaBelle. That's my actual dress thats pictured.
I'm also getting married Aug. 1st in Birmingham AL
. I've got the place (which is awesome because they do catering and the flowers) I have also gotten my dress, but I am having a difficult time finding the photographer.
August 1, 2009 here too!
Got engaged 12/20/08!
Having a simple backyard ceremony! Its about the celebration, not the cost of the wedding! Its hot in August in Central Pennsylvania, so we plan on having a ceremony is a shaded woodsy area behind our house and a evening dinner with our friends and family with the open air feel! No tent unless we know its going to rain!
I'm so excited!! The planning has begun! No vendor needed since we have a beautiful huge back yard! :) We live in the countryside.....
I'm surprised there aren't more August 1 brides! I fell in love with the date, I had it planned before we got engaged! I just loved how the first of the month sounds. It's so fresh, new month, clean slate. I just love it. :)
Hi Everyone,
I am an August 1, 2009 bride too. We are getting married in Camarillo, CA.
I don't have my save the dates done either. Any ideas?
I am having trouble coming up with something.
smun- Do you have a theme or color scheme for your wedding that you could use for your save the dates?
I just whipped something simple up in Photoshop (downloaded some calligraphy fonts and heron clipart) and uploaded it to staplescustomprinting.com and they're going to print magnets with my design andship them to me.
40 magnets only cost me $35 after tax and shipping!!
I also used photoshop. We started dating in Patagonia and do (or did before my injury a year ago) a lot of hiking/climbing so we have a photo from Patagonia as a background and a climbing photo as an inset. We overlaid a (somewhat cheesy) message about our wedding and put the relevant details (dates, location, and the URL of our website where we want to collect addresses, we bought a year subscription to an online form-maker and data base). Haven't sent them yet, but in the next week or so. We're trying to go a bit more online for everything b/c I personally think it's easier and I suspect my friends will too. I always misplace the RSVP cards or forget to send them and end up emailing to confirm anyway. And it's at least a bit less waste. We'll definitely send paper cards though, or my mom will flip.
If you don't have a color scheme yet, I think photos are a fun way to go. I absolutely love our STD b/c it says so much about us and our relationship.
August 1, 2009 just outside of St. Louis!
I still can't decide if we should do STDs though -- we're only having about 150 people. Out of those, many are family or close friends. What do you guys think?
We have: ceremony site, reception/catering, officiant, my dress, photographer (which was tough, they are booking up fast!), DJ. Picked out bridesmaid dresses. Still have a long way to go with things though. Any flower ideas? I have seven BMs, dresses are black (other wedding color is a bright, lime-ish green) and am thinking white with a lot of non-waxy greenery.
Miss Marshmallow- We're only having about 70 people who are family and close friends also, but we did save the dates because people kept bugging us for invitations already! We're also getting married in a location 6 hours away from where most of our guests live so we put all the hotel and travel info on our website, which we also put on the save the dates so that people can start planning their trip.
For flower ideas hydrangeas are always beautiful, and if you're lucky you probably know someone that has them growing in their garden. Peonies, roses, I LOVE the lime green button mums, they might go well with your colors!
Miss Marshmellow...have you considered hydrangea? sound like they'd be a nice touch for your wedding. Also classic amaranthys (I'm thinking of going with fuschia amaranthys, but the classic are green and white). I love the organic look they give.

I'm getting married in Newport, Rhode Island, and we're pretty far into the planning. we've been engaged for over a year and a half - so now that we're at the 6-month mark, we feel like its right around the corner!!
Did anyone read the farmers almanac for our date??
britta- I hadn't checked the farmers almanac, but now I'm afraid too if it says rain since all deposits are paid!! Theres no turning back now.
August 1, 2009 in Oklahoma City!
We have: church, reception location/catering, band, flowers, rentals, photographer, and my dress. Still working on BM dresses, cake, and invitations. It never ends, huh?
My vendors have been telling me that August is a busier wedding month than June this year. Wonder if that's just OKC or if it's everywhere??!!??
oh gosh, I forgot about the Farmer's Almanac! Let me know if you look...
Hii! I know I'm late responding, but I am an 8/1/09 bride too!
I'm on the wedding invitations phase! Wish me luck!!
Is anyone starting to freak out that we only have about 4 months left?! ahhhh... I feel like I still have SO MUCH to do!
only 109 days to go! We're still trying to figure out cake. Ohhh and we need to order wedding bands.
I'm late too but I'm an 08/01/09 Bride too!! Woot woot!
I have SO much left to do and not enough time to do it...

what kinds of projects are you guys working on? or what do you need to do?
Wahoo. August 1st bride here!!! Getting married at a winery in Temecula, CA. Having our menu tasting and cake consultations the weekend of May 8th. Working on various DIY projects like moss initials, favor tags, etc. Way behind though. lol.
Congrats everyone!!! Have you all had your Bachelorette parties / showers yet?!
WOOOHOO 72 days!!!
I'm August 1 too! We're getting married in downtown Nashville, TN - where we met! So excited!
Not my wedding date, but my birthday - so I'm partial to that date! Congrats to all of you! :)
I am so late responding but...
August 1st in Michigan! The day before my birthday. We are getting RSVPS back, need to make all of our final meetings and payments. Work on seating chart is still looming ahead of us, kind of a scary task! Anyone else using Gerber Daisies? Give us updates on how all of you are doing!!! Just a little over a month to go.
